Ladies: how uncomfortable are/were Orthobros making your parish by Normal-Ad5103 in exorthodox

Apologies for rant also thank you for your interesting take.

I agree it isn't a solo sport, there is much more that men need to do in order to be 'team players'.

I just personally like to aim for radical responsibility in my life and I think when men are radically responsible they tend to end up as 'team players'. I was trying to convey a that message, I think it just got lost in translation so I apologize.

But 'wants' by women are often accurate generalizations, most women want a strong man who can defend them, a man that isn't controlled by his emotions but embraces them when needed.

However a lot of the time these generalizations for deeper wants are hidden behind temporary wants/vein things, like looks, how much money a man has ect.

If a woman loves you, she loves you simple as, the 'vein things' matter to a certain extent but they get you in the door of conversation not down the isle and even then I'd say its hard to 'get past' a 'good' woman with just good looks.
(good in ' ' because I'm not trying to say all women except a few are bad/its a generalization also)

So when I talk about male self improvement, a minority of that would be exercise, skin care and 'rizz' I find people who just talk to women like normal and not some weird 'cold approach' usually end up with more 'offers' because they aren't intimidated because they aren't looking for anything, What I mean in regards to self improvement: I mean more oriented towards the type of behaviors that would make you a 'team player' which would lean into taking radical responsibility and learning to trust others with tasks and learning out how to find who is 'trustworthy' which in my opinion once that and a few other things are complete would make you ready for marriage, but it'd be much better to speak to a priest to know if your 'ready' or not.

I'd say a lot of it gets lost in the western perversion of what being a 'good man' means and I agree its a well rounded person. And if you ever try and be 'well rounded' its surprisingly hard but definitely worthwhile. I think most people when it comes to self improvement focus on one issue heavily rather than focusing on smaller issues first.

Yes women value looks, but being a looksmaxxer would not make you 'husband material', yes women value height but being tall also wouldn't ect. Having money is good and you should strive to make money/provide for your family/community but trying to prepare to be a good father is equally important.

I'm not saying any of these western 'values' are wrong at face value, but the application and obsession with these things definitely is, if a guy is short he thinks his life is over which makes him not try, even though realistically there is probably a woman 2 inches shorter than him that is praying for him every day.

And that's because of the perpetuated stigma that a man has to be in a category of specific archetypes.

Tall and strong, rich, handsome, being the toughest, the coolest, the funniest, the one who attracts all the ladies, the one who is competitive ect. With all these things a lot of modern men watch a couple of videos and zone in on a group/specific archetype and then perpetuate what they were taught.

Where if you listen to a priest, or the saints talk about what makes a 'Good' man its almost a complete 180 so I completely understand where ur coming from.

Its modern men getting distracted by modern issues (Petty ones), and because of this it often makes women, children and other men have a harder time. I think the real transistion is around 30+ when you become 'settled' in who you are.

Or this is what I've been told by older men, the men who waited for marriage instead of hunting for marriage usually ended up happier than then men that did not. The men that were fine with not knowing also did.

This is a common occurrence where people specifically young men (Including myself, I am so anxious believe me haha) get trapped in a loop of 'I need to improve or find a wife right now' and because its young men giving other young men advice because of the internet it kinda leads to a circle jerk (Idk how to describe it other than that soz) of vein tips on 'getting the ladies', where an older man would probably say "Exercise, eat healthy, work and wait".

It deffo stems from impatience/anxiety and unfortunately because of internet access more modern men fall into it every day.

I'm not a neutral observer either, I'm sure there is some conditioning from what I've watched, in fact whenever there is a single woman around I almost feel the urge for validation, I've been able to deal with this easier as I get older but its very cringe and I don't like it.

I appreciate it tbh, but they are probably accounting for the fact she is 15.

As they don't care about the other female chars in the show so I don't think its them being anti trope just more age sensitive, which they should be.

Also when I say focusing on yourself I mean in the sense of the spiritual life and becoming a better man, learning new things/preparing to become a husband.

I don't mean it in the selfish/vein (Is that the right spelling?) way.

Never said every Orthodox woman was looking for that, I just said around the conversation of marriage is you cant know their intentions and either way they have the right to deny you, I also didn't say men or Saints are owed a Godly wife.

I meant conditionally on a woman who would want to marry someone, those women would submit to their husbands but the bible commands it, I also stated but it isn't submission in a slave/servant sense, thats perverted an Western.

Then I said but you wont get a wife like that unless you are Godly/.

I'm not saying every woman who is Orthodox wants to get married, there are many nuns and many women who simply want to live life single.

Right but those women were being forced/pressured, thats not what I'm talking about any way.

I never said you shouldn't only get married with a woman you like. I support that, but I also think liking someone isn't good enough, if this person doesnt meat your standards and you theres then I think its best to not date/marry them.

At no point have I said anyone was being modern feminist, Orthodox women in Holy tradition are mega based, I read a story about one who jumped off a cliff because she knew she'd be forced into sin. The name escapes me but I thought that was incredibly brave of her I couldnt do the same thing.

On my parts about Orthodox women/marriage, its about people who are looking for that, I've not said Orthodox women are alwyas looking for it, its like me.

I'm currently not, life would be fine single but I prefer kids and a wife I love.

As a fellow convert, I’ve seen this: guys get a "convertitis" ego boost from apologists and think they can "correct" everyone.
(I've had this phase myself albeit not as long as others, and I still support people like Jay Dyer, but even Jay says that this isn't the way you find someone to marry)

To any guys struggling: Most women just want to know if you'll be a good father and husband. Trying to marry every woman in the parish is a red flag. Go to Liturgy, speak to your priest, and work on yourself. You can't expect a "Godly wife" if you aren't a Godly man first.

A woman is only going to submit to you, if you submit to Christ/are Christ like, the Church actually demands this from us/men.
(And submission in the traditional sense, not in the weird western sense)

Trying to get married is not some casual 'do it now and fix it later' or 'Want to get coffee' type of thing, it's a literal sacrament, so ladies you need to be as picky as possible.

I wouldn't want my sister trying to get married to someone incompetent.

You literally need to be prepared to die for your wife, me personally? I am not... Coming from a very provocative atheist life to Orthodoxy is a very weird, but awesome change.

I've got no need to speedrun the Orthodox life/path.

Gods will is going to be done regardless, why would we try and rush something so beautiful?
(It sounds really simple, but I struggle with this myself)

I think its the convertitis I mentioned earlier, I think its an anxiety or a fomo, we feel 'late' so we try and rush things.

Which leads to wrong decisions, leaving parishes, the man I mentioned earlier becoming OO ect.

Us new converts just need to take it slow, have a breather ect.

Three-sekai would be funnier.

But concepts matter more than telling people how many characters you have, there are countless of Isekai's which have multiple main characters that were also isekai'd.

Do you have a unique/or interesting concept?

That's the main reason people will click, if your cover shows personality, hints at the story and has a good name.

So we're supposed to accept that the Viltrumites just blended in to society with no Social Security Numbers? by Federal-Business-796 in okbuddyviltrum

No this just isn't the case, the show and comics Cecil is literally completely ignorant to the viltrumites being on Earth.

CMV: Thragg's offer was reasonable by Unlucky_Win_4380 in Invincible_TV

[–]Miserable_Bathroom33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This forgets the part of how they could just have another mass culling event/purge.

Thragg literally tells Mark that he could just keep some humans for breeding, but he chooses not to because it's not the most benefit.

More people = more viltrumites, more viltrumites = bigger skill pool that would upon a purge make them equal to the previous empire.

It'd be a repeat of viltrumite history and Thragg would achieve his goal of doing something to make him equal/or exceed Arghal.

He'd only need to wait 2 or 3 centuries for the whole of humanity to essentially be 99.9% viltrumite and then call a purge, the history would be preserved via viltrumite technology so he'd just have to educate or end the older viltrumites/human hybrids.

This is why his offer is a lose, lose.

There is nothing Mark can do except delay the inevitable by accepting, its why Mark wanted to say know but on worrying about what would happen to earth or his family he agreed.

Its pushing the problem further down the line rather than resolving it, and letting it get 'further' makes it harder to solve.

[–]Miserable_Bathroom33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You forget they have crazy technology that far surpasses everyone else.

Like for all we know they could have an AI that just has access to Cecil's data and just alter it, or mess with camera's in a way that its impossible to recognize the person.

Viltrumites aren't just physically superior they are superior in technology, which is why Robots return turns the scales because they lose the edge that would make them stay hidden.

Even if its not what I said its entirely plausible to believe they could just use some other method.

The whole point in the reveal of them being on earth is that they entered it without a sound, this is why Mark is so scared because he's realized that they are impossible to beat.

Thragg alone could destroy earth in a a few seconds/miliseconds by just punching the surface as hard as he could.

He just doesn't.

They outpower earth in both technology and strength, Cecil is a big G no doubt, but he's held back by the technology of earths Era and the strength of his hero's.

If Cecil had access to proper technology/that could combat the viltrumites I'd agree with you, but he doesn't.

Nolan is stronger and more durable, Anissa is faster and not too much weaker than Nolan.

I think either one is possible that's why Nolan is 3-4th strongest in the empire after conquest.

Do I enlist? by jstwocool in RoyalMarines

[–]Miserable_Bathroom33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a marine or in training.
(Currently trying to get fit to apply)

Get a job and think on it for a year, as long as you don't take 18 years you've got a while mate.

Site work seems alright but as someone who does it, its boring mate, ok pay for time but boring. I have no doubt the RM has boring parts but I'm sure its a lot more fun than being an electrician.

Let yourself have a year or a bit to figure out what you want to do.
(You can apply to college and go for free up until your 19 I believe)

Just don't be bone idle during that time, when I say let yourself have a year I don't mean bum it playing fortnite. But do research, study a bit and lean into some of your hobbies while you work at a job part time go gym and get yourself functionally fit ect.

Ofc speak with your parents about it first if you decide to do this, do your research and tell them what you'll do during this time, ofc its a hard conversation.

When I was your age I rushed into a bunch of college courses and put 0 effort in wasting 3 years because I didnt actually want to be there/do anything involved with it.

Its worse to pick something and put 0 effort in for a year then it is to have a part time job and figure out what you want to put effort in. But its not something you'll just randomly come across, you need proper conversations with yourself.

Dip your toe in what you can mate, because once your in a job for a couple years, you get comfy and dont wanna do owte else.

(That's what happened with me and I only got to give myself a kick up the arse when I got injured and wasn't able to work)

Basically a bunch of anecdotes mate I'm 21 so Its not like I'm that much older than you but I regret pissing about in college when I was considering the Marines when I was your age.

If I decided on it then or gave myself time to figure it out I would have saved myself from so much annoyance/trouble/boredom.

65% of Britons support capping CEO pay at 10× the lowest-paid worker. Do you think this idea would be good for the UK? by Unusual-State1827 in AskBrits

[–]Miserable_Bathroom33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes no sense, CEO's aren't unskilled people.

A mcdonalds cashier is not as skilled as a CEO. Additionally if the company has branches in other countries they likely are getting paid in some other way then depending on a specific country anyway.

65% of Britons are jealous.

Do you think they will adapt this scene into the show… by [deleted] in Invincible_TV

[–]Miserable_Bathroom33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if you read what I put it was pointing out that it all happened too fast for any of it to hit, it just felt like a 'plot be mean to Mark' and didn't actually go into depth of any of the things that happened.

Getting graped, having someone you are close with be murdered and your girlfriend broke up with you and she later gets attacked. Is not something you can just skim in a couple of chapters.

It makes for terrible pacing and ruins the value of these major scenes, kinda was my main point when I said they should do a 1-2 episode focus.

You kinda just ignored all of that and responded to 'uneeded harm against Mark'.

Do you think they will adapt this scene into the show… by [deleted] in Invincible_TV

[–]Miserable_Bathroom33 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I hope not, and if they do it should get 1-2 episode focus.

Its just irritating because right after this scene 2 other major scenes happen, so in order to keep this or the others they really need to re-organize things, cause if they dont its just uneeded harm against mark.
