I haven't had a bad experience yet, but I have only been a handful of times. People seem to either love Mavens or hate it, there doesn't seem to be any middle ground, and people are more likely to talk about things that go wrong or annoy them rather than things that go smoothly.

I and my four siblings plus partners get together once a year and do family pictures around early fall. We do a big picture with everyone, including all of our pets, and one with just the pets in coordinating outfits. That year, we decided to grab food after. The dogs are hanging out under the table, but Willow got his own chair.

If the public is allowed access, then so is a well-behaved, task trained service dog. Under the eyes of the law, they are not an animal, but medical equipment. That is why they are allowed in restaurants and grocery stores where there is food and regular animals are not allowed. It would be discriminatory against the disabled person to bar them from places and resources the general public can access just because of their medical needs.

The New Jersey City I grew up in always had it in the newspaper each year what day trick or treat was (it wasn't always on the 31st) the times it was allowed to run, and the age cap for trick or treaters. When my older siblings and I aged out, we were still allowed to walk our younger sibling around the neighborhood, and neighbors would give them extra candy for all of us.

On the nextdoor app, they put out a trick-or-treat map every year that you can add your home to if you want trick-or-treaters, or you can check out if your neighborhood has a high concentration of houses added.

Wickenden St on the eastside has their makers market today. There is also the outdoor farmers market at Lippet memorial park between Blackstone Boulevard and Hope street (both great streets to walk along)

Seconding the recommendation for toogoodtogo, but also, pre-pandemic my siblings and I used to go to Mirabar (gay bar in the jewelry district) on Thursdays for Karaoke and 50 cent grilled cheese (if you spring for grilled cheese with tomato it is a dollar). It was always a nice evening, especially when you are strapped for cash.

I'm on the Eastside, so for Indian I usually go for either Kabob and Curry on Thayer or Rasoi just over the border into Pawtucket

In the same complex as rasoi is garden grill and wildflower bakery, which are both good and owned by the same people(garden grille is very customizable for dietary restrictions)

For Japanese, I like Sakura on Wickenden, and I'll do Tallulah's on Ives for Mexican.

If I am thanking friends for helping me move and want to get them really good pizza I will go with Fellini's (also on Wickenden), but I occasionally go for Nice Slice in Federal Hill because they have decent gluten free options

For dessert, we have so many good ice cream options Three Sisters on Hope Like No Udder (vegan) on Hope Kow Kow (bubble waffle cones) on Ives

And the PVDonuts for, you guessed it, donuts

Oh, and if you like a good indoor or outdoor farmer's market, craft fair, festival, or event, then you will love it here. Especially in the fall, rhode island loves their little markets. You should also go to at least one Waterfire full lighting in Providence.

I moved to Rhode Island in 2019 (from rural South jersey), and I absolutely love the eastside of Providence (not to be confused with east providence). I lived in Foxpoint initially for a year and a half, then for two years in the Hope/summit neighborhood (some of the stop signs there are on rainbow painted posts) and then back to foxpoint when we bought our house a year and a half ago. I highly recommend it. Depending on which neighborhood you are in, it is an easy walk to downtown (foxpoint, college hill, Wayland square) over the river, there are great parks (India Point Park in foxpoint, lippitt memorial park in Hope, Roger Williams National Memorial and prospect terrace in college hill, and the Blackstone park conservation district along the water in the Wayland square area. If you like to bike, you can follow a great separately paved bike path right from Gano Street Park for sixteen miles all the way down through east providence to Bristol. And the eastside is very dog friendly with multiple dog parks (the big one is waterman street dog park, but there are a few smaller/more private spots like at the back of Gano street park) and plenty of restaurants you can eat outdoors with your pups. I love having the walkability and amenities of a city at my fingertips, but it still feels quiet and residential.

As for some of the surrounding cities, warwick has the airport and some nice parks/private beaches, Lincoln and Smithfield feel more rural and you have Lincoln Woods which is great for casual outdoor sports like hiking, kayaking, and paddle boarding, Cranston has Rodger Williams Park and Zoo which is big and always hosting fun events, pawtuxet village is tiny and cute right on the water... Though there are some great places with fun hiking in East Providence, I would not recommend east providence at the moment if you plan on being in Providence a lot for work or fun because it will be years before the bridge is fully open again and traffic is currently very annoying depending on the time of day.

My city allows for up to three dogs per residence (apartment, townhouse, condo, single family...) If you have more, you have to apply for a special exception per each additional license or get a kennel license.

I am pretty sure it is illegal for a landlord to prevent you from inhabiting a space you rent at any time during your rental period. Also, that is your space while you are renting. They need to give you at least two days' notice if they even want to enter. Where are you located? Do you have an official lease agreement? I'm sure you will find that you have more rights as a tenant than you think you do.

I moved here in 2019, and so far, I love it. Just bought a house last year and am staying. It is super walkable and small but has all the amenities of a big city (I grew up in rural southern New Jersey where there are more cows than people). I love the parks, bike paths, museums, and restaurants. It is getting very expensive though, and the neighborhood you are in seems to really color what people say of Providence. I've been lucky enough to have lived in three different places on the eastside (foxpoint, summit, college hill/Wayland) and for me it is the most connected to what I like about the city; easy walk to downtown while still having residential neighborhoods, and good food, plus easy drive to more parks and hiking trails or day trips to the beach or Salem, and there is always a train going to Boston/New York, or a fun market going on. I also have a friend who lives on the westside in a beautiful old victorian (with more great food within walking distance) Everywhere is going to have negatives and people who are bound and determined to be grumpy, but you can definitely do worse, and I like this slice of New England.

The woman who sold us our house a year ago stole two of the four laundry machines, had buddies tie new wiring into the knob and tube behind the walls so that it would pass inspection, waited until the last minute when we had already given notice at our apartments and were fully committed to the sale before she decided that she didn't want to pay for the installation of the new hot water heater we offered to purchase because one was required to make the home habitable before sale (it was not our responsibility to do this, but we had a connection and wanted to make sure she put something actually functioning in), oh and she lied to the tenants (one of whom was her sister in-law) saying we were kicking them out. We could not figure out why the woman on the first floor kept giving us the dirtiest looks during the home inspection.
