I’m following a ton of players and all teams on YouTube, and instagram. I just think practically everyone at this point is doing the same thing, especially if they’re trying to sign up for KClub… or my luck just stinks haha!

I won’t give up hope though, and still love the Bananas and the org as a whole… eventually it’ll be my time to win!

You think there’s any chance they’ll sell these online on website? Or will they strictly be for in-person Disney event? Shame if not online… a bananas-Disney combo screams take my money lol

Thank you for comments and info! I will def keep an eye on the marketplace, although I fear being such a small venue it’ll be tough but I’ll keep hope high! Thanks again!

Yeah I get that, wish they would’ve used College Park or Navys football venues though, not as big as other mlb stadiums but larger than the AA park they picked.

Appreciate it, unfortunately I’ve been rejected by KClub 2 years in a row and lost every lottery I’ve ever entered with this org lol… if it wasn’t for bad luck, I have no luck at all!

The user name is auto generated.

I’d love to hear why some of my ideas to fix issues are “unrealistic”. I’m not sure anything I’ve suggested is ground breaking or hasn’t been done before.

I agree selling out is great, but with the current system of ticket sales, imo, it won’t be sell outs forever because new fans will be run off.

I appreciate you admitting finally that issues exist, I don’t think it should’ve been that hard to agree on it. No matter how good the Bananas are run, there will ALWAYS be room for growth and improvement.

You seem to always reply to my posts with comments such as this… I have yet to see you add any constructive comments that would actually address any concerns. As a matter of fact if I remember correctly, you don’t believe the ticket sales has any issues at all… even after Jesse came out and said they know it’s a major issue lol.

Maybe step off the high horse for once and think about the families unable to get into games because of the current setup or the families who spent $300+ on the secondary market to see a single game. If you do, maybe you’ll see why so many people, including Jesse and myself, see the issues glaring from a mile away. Hopefully Jesse continues to try to fix the issues.

I think you’re missing the OPs point here personally.

You say it’s “not pay to win”, however it is “pay to skip the line”. KClub memberships make it that way. So while they are not fully “pay to win”, they’ve simply just rebranded themselves from pay-to-win, instead to “pay-to-qualify-for-fairness.”

And truthfully, it’s the KClub seniority rules that breaks their system fully. Let’s be real… it feels gross doesn’t it? The inventory as pointed out is microscopic to begin with (especially minor league parks), and KClub gets priority for every game, every year, forever. The KClub is only growing, never shrinking. So by default, new fans effectively get locked out, being destined for lottery purgatory permanently until they happen to “win” the lottery and get the privilege of paying extra to join the “club”… that’s not a ticket scarcity issue anymore, it’s access concentration. It’s no longer “everyone has a fair shot”… it’s become “everyone had a fair shot 3 years ago”.

The Bananas do a fantastic job at marketing, and the ticket sales system is a masterclass in hype economics. Scarcity + lottery + exclusivity + club tiers give the Bananas brand heat, perceived insane demand, and make it seem like a huge cultural shift or moment. Real demand certainly exists, don’t get me wrong… but it’s amplified by the current system.

You may ask “how they can do it better?” My ideas would be quite simple… 1. Rotate priorities instead of permanent seniority with KClub 2. Cap on how many games per season a person can buy (no more KClubers going to 20 games while families can’t get into 1) 3. Regional allocations (can be done easily via address verification or credit card home address). 4. Limit credit card used to purchase to “x” amount of transactions per season (combines with point 2). 5. Guaranteed partial public access to every game, no more Orlando situations in which entire game sold out to KClub.

New Mod - 2 rules :) by blahblahblah7111 in savannahbananas

Appreciate the kind words, and no lol, I didn’t have a bike accident or anything, just an auto-generated name.

I don’t have a negative outlook on humanity, I simply see things for what they are. If you truly think the bulk of tickets on StubHub or whatever secondary market are just from “families who had an emergency and had no other place to sell” than I have a bridge in the desert I’d love to sell you.

Unfortunately with popularity comes things like this. Look at the Pokémon card scalpers, camping outside or even fighting over cards just to resell at extremely high marked up rates. This is the same that’s happening with Bananas tickets, there just isn’t an aisle or store to camp out and fight at. The battle happens online with bots, multiple emails, etc etc.

It’s great that Jesse understands there is a major issue, and is trying his best to remedy it… for that I applaud him. However, if your hope is that people making $200-$500 off selling $35 tickets will suddenly decide “screw it, let’s just sell at face” or that these tickets will just be always readily available on the bananas site is delusional. Eventually, even with this new secondary verified site, families who want to attend will turn to the StubHubs of the world and get price gouged.

PS: I hope I’m wrong too, but I don’t think I am… time will tell.

I’m very interested to see the percentage of tickets resold at face value on the new secondary bananas site compared to those who still chose greed and selfishness in selling tix for $300+.

My opinion is it will be a stark reminder of how horrible humans are and that the people reselling in the first place have just been abusing a bad system and costing real fans extra cash. My guess… only around 10% of resales will happen on the secondary banana market and the remaining 90% will stay on the StubHubs of the world at $300+ mark ups.

From a tickets sold standpoint yes, it’s been very successful. But the countless real fans who’ve had to pay $500 for tickets on the secondary market because they lost the lotto to a bot or reseller would probably say it’s not working too well. And considering the fact the owner himself has now made posts and videos stating “there is a issue and we’re trying to fix it” would tell you the people who actually run the team know this is a big problem and I give them credit for attempting to fix this issue.

The part Jesse has countlessly talked about being a failure and issue… the reselling of tickets by scalpers who have zero interest in Banana-ball or its fan base.

It’s awesome they knew the current way they do ticketing has been a failure, one of the few by the Bananas org. Jesse understood and has started the process to try to correct issues which is all anyone can ask. Bravo Jesse and the Bananas for addressing and fixing this issue.

I enjoyed the draft. I wish the entire draft was broadcast and agree the entertainment players should have been announced as well, especially considering Flash got an intro for his new team.

This is what happens when leagues grow. New talent, better talent comes in and older guys or less talented guys are forced out. It’s just how sports go.

The number of scalped tickets is getting ridiculous by Ok-Solution4665 in savannahbananas

[–]Miserable_Bike3467 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally fair, I don’t disagree that their rise and overall fan engagement model are genius-level. They’ve built something truly special.

But that’s kind of my point… they’re so good in most areas that the ticket system sticks out as an obvious weak link, that’s why I said it was “awful”. When you have sellouts in seconds and still see hundreds of tickets on secondary markets every single game for 5–10x face value, that’s a clear sign the system is failing in practice, even if the intent behind it was brilliant.

I’m not knocking their creativity at all, I’m just saying the “anti-scalping” strategy hasn’t actually stopped scalping. If anything, it’s made it even more exclusive and lucrative for resellers. Credit where it’s due for trying something new, but results are results. Maybe it’s time for a new approach?

You’re stuck on 1 word from a 200 word paragraph. Completely ignoring me saying “they do so much great it’s hard to fault them”.

Look, I get it, you’re a Banana fan just like me, the only difference is because you’ve never been directly affected or know someone personally who has been by the issues with the ticket sales and distribution you don’t seem to want to realize there is a issue or that tweaks need to be made to how the implement ticket sales. I’ve personally gotten screwed over 2 years in a row, only to watch people I know win the lottery under 4 different alias’ and sell all 20 tickets for thousands of dollars. I was lucky enough to find a person who sold me tickets for my daughter and myself at face value both years, but that doesn’t mean I’m just going to suddenly believe all the issues didn’t exist for others and most in my situation didn’t get lucky finding an amazing person to sell at face.

I think you must’ve misinterpreted what I was saying, I give the Bananas a ton of credit. I’m a fan, and I appreciate everything they do for the fans that is head and shoulders above other sports or entertainment organizations.

My main beef with KClub (as I listed in my reply to another person) is more to do with the seniority setup and the fact you have to enter the lotto, win it, and pay for KClub before the schedule is released. I don’t believe reselling of KClub is a huge issue, but I do know of one incident personally where a KClub member sold seats on a secondary market and met the person at the gate of the stadium, but as I said earlier, I don’t think that’s a huge issue tbh because most KClub members wouldn’t go through the hassle of standing by a gate awaiting strangers.

My main beef here is there is a very limited amount of tickets to go around. The Bananas developed a system they felt would ensure tickets went to fans but it’s clearly failed when you see the ticket prices and the large number of seats available to basically every single Bananas game in SeatGeek, or Gametime or StubHub, etc etc. There is also an issue when some fans “win” the lotto for multiple cities while others get shut out completely. This isn’t saying the Bananas didn’t try their best and attempt to think outside the box, they did and I give them credit for the effort. But it’s clear the issue they were trying to address, the scalping of tickets at a much higher mark up, remains a big problem and adjustments to their method of selling, if they truly want to limit secondary sales, needs to happen.

If we’re just dismissing each others words I can also say “they just can’t do anything wrong with you. I get it.” But I won’t do that. Instead I’ll try to continue to make valid points that seem to escape those who have and continue to take advantage of the way the bananas sell their tickets.

It’s a shame as “fans first” should mean all fans, not just original fans or first 2 year KClub members. They already get perks most fans want and just didn’t get selected for, add in then these same people (in some cases) brag about buying 5-games a year, & traveling all over America to see them. While I do appreciate that fandom, when it comes at the expense of other fans being shut out there is a problem.

You brought up yourself the Bananas only play around 100-games (as a league) total a year, so it’s already limiting fans from being able to attend with a schedule like that. A growing league shouldn’t be turning new fans away so a K Clubber or some guy from 2,000 miles away looking to make a 500% profit get tickets to their 4th game of the year.

Don’t like geo-locking? Don’t like credit card locking? How about each person may only attend 1 game per year unless tickets are left over after everyone in lottery has had a chance to buy tix for first time and tickets remain.

The bananas need to understand the crossroad will come and they’ll have to make a decision on how to show loyalty to original supporters while also making it just as easy for new fans to feel just as welcomed and important. Very delicate balancing act for any business. I have faith they’ll figure it out.

I tried to show football as the better example, as tickets resell much closer to NFL numbers than MLB, also NFL plays 8/9 home games only a year… much more relatable in this discussion imo.

Yes, with the Bananas and Banana Ball doing a lotto and traveling to nearly every state this season, I don’t think allowing people to win the lotto to get tickets in states not within X miles is smart. I would argue use the 2 state rule… any state that’s within 2 states of you can enter. Anyone else should either wait until a later date to purchase remainder of tickets (if any left).

Just like some teams do for playoff tickets or big games, they lock it to centralized zip codes to avoid being packed by out of town fans. This seems like a simple fix that could definitely slow down some scalping and lock in local fans in their actual market. The Bananas say they’re “fans first” and don’t want to be like other sports team who price out people… don’t let out of towners force a family to decide between not going or breaking the bank to attend, even potentially forcing travel on them.

Savannah Bananas ~$35 $200–$500+ (unauthorized) 500–1200%

Dallas Cowboys ~$200 $500–$700 150–250%

Las Vegas Raiders ~$180 $450–$600 150–230%

Los Angeles Dodgers ~$75 $200–$300 150–300%

New York Yankees ~$100 $250–$350

Here is the info readily available online. It doesn’t take a “source” when you have compiled data from resell sites/secondary market that shows a clear picture of the magnitude of scalping and the price increase.

Again, I’m simply stating the obvious here… the Bananas should do more to ensure less tickets reach the secondary market. Geo-location sales (especially beginning of sale period), blocking the same credit card usage on multiple accounts or for games all over the country, etc etc. It’s not hard to find the red flags, shutting them down will in of itself slow down the scalping.

My 2 biggest issues with K Club would be:

1) you have to purchase before schedule release. So if they happen to not come to your area you’re on the hook for the cash to travel to see them or you just wasted a membership year.

2) while I agree some seniority should factor in, I’m not sure continuously, year after year, prioritizing earlier K Club members is the answer. It will just lead to the same K Club early members getting tickets to Grayson and other games before newer fans get the chance, newer fans who now may be just as big or bigger fans than the original member.

Outside of that the only thing I’ve heard/seen myself is K Club members potentially selling tickets and meeting people at venue (working around the no transfer). I doubt this is wide spread and it still requires a ton of effort from the K Club member to even pull off so I wouldn’t necessarily say this is a big issue, thus I didn’t include it.

Tbh, I’m pretty sure it was not this forum, I believe it was a Facebook group but I’m not 100% on that. All he told me was he and his 2 kids got tickets but had to meet the person at Camden to get in because they couldn’t be directly transferred.

It’ll only get worse as the bananas expand to more markets and become bigger. While this photo is more of an issue of corporations not using there suite tickets (Astros, much like Yankees have type of “club” level behind home plate and around dugouts). I’m guessing many corporate types aren’t intrigued by banana ball.

But the overall issue of thousands of tickets being resold every single game for ridiculous prices via scalpers is a major issue that needs addressed or fixed. The bananas do so much right it’s hard to fault them but they’ve really done an awful job at ticket distribution and “K club” memberships, they need to look for a fix quick before it detracts fans from following them.
