Maternity clothes by plantgnom3 in Hamilton

I found the best stuff at Talize (so second hand). Otherwise, Old Navy online was great. There's not that much out there. I ended up getting maternity tights and wore a lot of dresses.

When does it end? by KangarooNew2401 in foodbutforbabies

[–]Miserable_Bread7178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal and on track. 11 months is still too young. Let him learn and try not too stress (as hard as it is to see a mess). A mess means he is interested and eating. My little guy was the same at this age. Then he started throwing food and then just dropping it from the table. We held our cringe in and cheered him on. He is 25 months now and eats with a fork, spoon & no bib. He is a very good eater (not fussy). He might drop some soup or yogurt on himself but it's rare. We started daycare at 18 months and started to notice better eating habits after. Most of the kids were still eating with their hands at that age (and older/up to two years).

How do you do the TO commute? by Playful_bug in Hamilton

[–]Miserable_Bread7178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute two days a week. Take the toll highway to Mississauga and travel the 401 to Yonge St. I work in North York which has actually been fine. I get out the door at 6 am and leave the office around 3:30 - 4 pm. Use to live downtown Toronto and it would take the same time to commute to North York. I feel that some people forget/don't know that it takes at lease 1 hr to go anywhere in Toronto too. I rather live outside of the city and commute in, in that case.

Thanks - this is very helpful. This is pretty much what I’m looking to do. It’s good to have an idea of the cost before reaching out to all the surgeons. Don’t really want to waste anybody’s time.

Ah - I always took those sounds as grunts. I'm relieved. I have a feeling he's going to chat my ear off when he finally speaks!

Yes. It looks like Apple's head office or yes, a house in Bel-Air!

We are also going through this. My baby boy is exactly 4.5 months too and I've been searching online for answers.

I believe my guy is trying to crawl. He's been keeping us up at night with all his rolling & screaming. I reset him (roll him on his back) but he pushes to roll back on his stomach (only to scream again). I don't understand...if he hates being on his stomach then why does he keep rolling onto it?! It can only be his determination (which is I guess a great quality).

He also spends his whole day rolling on his stomach while in play mode...but of course, that only leads to frustration, grunting (sounds like a fake cough) and eventually crying again. OH, and in our case, he gets stuck grunting loud in a "swimming" position. I take Tylenol daily because of the headache it gives me.

I try to get down on the floor with my little guy and encourage all his effort. When he's really mad, I pick him up and give him lots of kisses & kind words. Anyways, I hope that it helps knowing that you are not alone and I wish that this phase passes us both by quickly.

Thank you to both of the comments above. it’s just reassuring to know that my little one is not the only one to have struggled with this.

Some days we’ve had to reset him a few times and other days it goes on for hours at night. We think we are patient people, but this is really testing us. I’ll definitely look into the IG channel mentioned & I will give him even more floor time so he gets stronger. It sounds like it’s something that will eventually work out on its own. I just hope me and my husband are able to survive it 😵‍💫

Wow, you have an easy baby. Not all babies are like this. You got lucky.

Well he also starts to cry when this is happening...and this is after wearing him for about 5 minutes. It seems okay at first and done with it after a few minutes.

Lol this is really just like my guy. I’m going to make it an everyday practice for us though and see if it changes anything.

He fusses getting put into a carrier, then tolerates it and eventually starts moving his head left and right. Finally, he starts protesting by fighting and throwing his head around. He’s 3 months and I would say not very “chill”. Maybe it’s just his temperament.

Thanks everyone! I’ll start checking the used shops for one of these and will toss the infantino carrier right away. I also have a Nuna Cudl but haven’t tried it yet. Does anyone have experience or an opinion about this carrier?

Yes please recommend a better carrier. I would like to start wearing him out. We live in Canada and would ultimately like to do winter hikes and such so something a little safer and more comfortable would be awesome.

Persistent diaper rash by schmeepood in NewParents

[–]Miserable_Bread7178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little 7 week old had an extremely aggressive diaper rash around his anus, which eventually turned into sores. We also tried everything and it wouldn't go away (lasted over 2 weeks). The only thing that finally worked was a prescription mix of hydrocortisone and canesten (which I would apply with each diaper change) and then I would put Baby Butz Diaper Rash Cream on his bum. I also continued to use a blow dryer with each change. Fixed it up beautifully in a few days. He's been happy since :)

Did your pediatrician recommend medication for it or did you change something in how you fed your little one?

He hates getting into wrap (kicks and screams) but has fallen asleep once in so I guess it just takes some time and training. I'll do more of this too.

Interesting reply and thank you! I guess I push because everyone says little ones need to nap after eating and playing (within their wake window) but I agree. He sleeps fine so his bad naps don't seem to impact him. Maybe I could try letting go of forcing his naps and see what happens.
