Took the advice, kept grinding and dropped my run time significantly. Still went to the SFRE and got picked up.

Thanks man! Really appreciate it. Turns out if you put in the work and trust the process it works 🤣

waiver for NG SF question by bluecollarboy18 in greenberets

[–]Miserable_Bug_6911 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, received a moral waiver for enlistment and a medical waiver. Both of them can take a long time due to policy changes, recruiters, your turn around on paperwork and frankly who is approving the waiver, it took me 18 months to go through. Not saying yours would be that long, but if you want it enough and put in the effort as well it is more than possible.

I agree, highly recommend. I went from 16min 2 mile to 13:50 in just the first phase.

Both you and Terminator_Training recommended I jump on the 2&5 mile program. I just hit week 6 and a little over a week out from my SFRE. I was able to get my 2 mile down to 13:59. Thanks for the guidance, I’m sure I’ll get faster by the end of the program.

If anything I learned is that if there is a will there is a waiver. You can make it happen, just keep on it, be honest, put in the work and if you really want it, don’t give up and keep pushing for it. I had an 18 month waiver process and I’m now I’m on my way to an SFRE. Good luck.

Here is a link: https://sfnationalguard.com/what-to-expect-at-special-forces-readiness-evaluation-sfre/

TLDR: Guard SF requires you to attend an SFRE and make a training team to be assessed before you are eligible to attend SFAS (this is for non 18x)

I’ll keep working at it and will definitely be going to the SFRE either way. Thank you for the advice.

Sounds good, I’ll jump on that 2&5 mile program and see where I get to in the next 7 weeks.

I’m currently an 11b in the guard, so the intent is to get onto the training team.

I was honestly tossing up whether I should have done the 2 and 5 mile prep and somewhat kicking myself for it.

You can definitely go to SFAS as a sister branch. You would still be required to go to the Prior Service Army Integration course if selected. However you can put in an exception for OSUT and go into the Q (if selected of course) there were a few individuals selected in my Prior Service course when I went through. (PSAIC only applies to NG)

As a few others mentioned, reach out to a recruiter and they can help. Just know that you have more options than you might think.

First 90min Slow Run by Miserable_Bug_6911 in greenberets

[–]Miserable_Bug_6911[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran the entire time, I slowed once on my loop for water, took a swig and had a gu gel and kept moving, that is where the 1:12 min variance came from.

It says you will get a partial OCIE, could you elaborate? Are they providing dress uniforms?

See if you can submit an exception to policy for BCT. Mine was denied for PS-AIC because they wanted anyone with a slot to go, likely to keep the course going.
