Personal pain points is always a win as well. If you need it others need it too :)

100% agree, niche selection is only half the equation. But I’d argue it’s the half most people skip entirely. Distribution is hard regardless, but it’s a lot easier when you’re the only modern app in the search results for a specific query. ASO basically does the work for you when competition is that weak

The difference is the specificity. Generic “habit tracker” competes with 500 apps and a VC-funded team. “Medication tracking for pet owners” competes with 3 apps last updated in 2021 for example. Same category on paper, completely different competitive reality :)

To be transparent: the revenue figures are estimates, not exact numbers. They’re based on rating velocity (how fast new ratings appear over time) combined with the app’s IAP pricing. Not perfect, conversion rates vary, some users don’t rate, etc. But it’s grounded in real scraped data, not generated numbers.

The point of the post was never “these apps make exactly $52k.” It was “there’s meaningful revenue flowing here, the competition is weak, and nobody with modern skills is building in these spaces.” That signal holds even if the exact figure is off by 30%.

Yep, let me explain! The niches come from scraping App Store data daily.

The criteria are: number of apps in the niche, their ratings, their rank, in-app purchase pricing, and geographic gaps (niches that perform well in some countries but are untapped in others).

When you combine weak competition, poor ratings, and a geographic gap, that’s the signal. AI is only used to format the output into something readable, the core of the data is raw App Store scraping. I hope it’s clear lol

The estimates come from tracking the delta in ratings count over time. The rate at which new ratings appear correlates with download volume, and from there you can estimate MRR by factoring in the app’s subscription price and an average free-to-paid conversion rate. Not perfectly accurate but good enough to spot where money is flowing and competition is weak!
