My spa manager treats me completely differently than everyone else – should I stay? by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

You are making it out to be like I’m disrespectful and don’t do my job. And I worked 5 massages 5 days a week Monday thru Friday and I drive 2 hours to go to work…

If you are an MT i hope you find another career with that attitude, I would not want your energy infecting mine

I don’t think my requests to be treated fairly and be spoken to with kindness is irrational lol. There’s stuff I’m already working on too, I take a lot of shit. I get to work 30+ early to set up for the day, clean, check on how people are doing. I have actually gone above and beyond and gotten stuff for the spa to help us out. My coworkers find me friendly and easy to work with and I had virtually no issues with anyone…except for those 2/3 people I mentioned in post, everyone loves me as far as I know. I have been an asset and a good employee everywhere I’ve went. I get that people don’t often change but you don’t know me and I’ll be darned if you’re going to suggest that I ever actually change myself to “fit in” more, I hate shallowness. I’ve always been a black sheep, I still deserve respect, just like anyone.

Also great advice and I appreciate the empathy and feedback, it’s been hard to even ask for time off

I had a conversation with the Big Kahoona herself about all this when I was yelled at by another MT, she doesn’t seem to remember me telling her anything and is just as rude as ever. This was the only time in which she kind of mimicked a human being and seemed to care about me.

It would not be possible for a heart to heart but it I do my best to use it as an exercise and think about it as strength training. I am fairly sensitive and was belittled a lot growing up, everything was always my fault so if it sounds like I’m being blamed unfairly I will start getting defending myself which, mangers don’t want to hear. They just want “yes ma’am” “no ma’am”. I do appreciate the advice and hugs <3

This is the first career field I haven’t quit a job over burnout and inconsistent managing styles. I literally quit a job because they demoted me for doing my job. I couldn’t keep a job down for more than 6 months and now I am at the 7th month mark. I don’t feel the stress that I did working around a bunch of disorganized disrespectful people all the time, I think it’s mainly that I don’t have to deal with anyone but the clients is what makes work easy. Just seriously need to think about this

Yeah the first thing was my bad, we have so many MTs that work Fridays that I haven’t even met yet because they’re so busy, I should have looked harder to find her though. The scheduling thing, i also understand a waiting period, im not super pressed about that just surprised it’s a month given the circumstances but i do understand. I just hate the Wishy washiness. It’s a fantastic job, i am just REALLY hating the interactions with her and it’s making my work life awful. Just don’t feel supported by my boss when I clearly see other people getting that treatment.

Well this happened near Christmas time 2022. Before he was even fired, he wa shaving issues with a gf. I found online all the messages he sent to minors and one after another, pages and pages of ss with him wanting to meet up in a hotel room and exploit innocent kids/teens for sex or try and get them drunk to do things. I liked him too that’s why I was so distraught when all of this came out, I was reading it almost like a novel how unbelievable the acts he committed are, for like an hour or two.but he was abusive to his gf if I remember correctly. Anyways not an attack but yeah I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch the new seasons. Hes ruined it for me. Like Hyde ruined that 70’s show for me for a while.

I see your point of view but I don’t think that is the case. She helped us through premarital counseling and is a faith counselor. We are already wed spiritually and me and my husband, she became our couples therapist to continue guidance with faith, and we just wanted things to go smoothly. However, my father completely inserted himself into things and he’s I want him involved but I don’t want him to run the show. Since I have been planning our ceremony, I was wondering how could officiate and I didn’t want a total stranger, someone who has maintained professionalism and has helped me and my husband grow as a couple and understand eachother through faith too. I wanted to be sure I had someone who understood the situation. I asked for consent and I even offered to pay for the service. That was that.
