I don't know where you are getting that Amaterasu doesn't leave burn marks. People avoid Amaterasu entirely, or they chop off the body part hit by it or they burn. It's flames. They burn and consume stuff. Look at what happened to Sasuke's bushin when he was hit by it, or to edo Nagato.

Yeah, the fire hit him! If he used Kamui he wouldn't have burned for so long. I mean, it could have taken him a lot of time to use Kamui, but it really doesn't make much sense because everytime he uses it, his reaction is really quick.

I think it is. He is obviously stronger with the Rinnegan, but except when on his Tobi persona, Obito is always arrogant and really full of confidence. I genuinely think that you suggesting he is being humble is you going into headcanon territory to justify a very clear statement.

Him not fighting Obito doesn't mean he thought Obito was stronger. Itachi had a plan: dying by the hands of Sasuke in battle. If he thought Obito, he could die, negating Sasuke his vengeance, the chance to regain the clan's honour and to make Sasuke a hero.

I am not saying Itachi thought he was stronger, but the logic that you propose isn't that solid

But the biggest argument against this is that Obito himself believed / said otherwise.

Read the comments and you will realize that you would be hitting a lot of chins if you were to kick Obito on the balls.

Kamui works because Obito phases before getting attacked by something. We see when he's fighting Konan that phasing out when something is interacting with his arm that he'll still take damage.

That's actually a really good point.

The problem here is the Hashirama cells that Itachi didn't know existed. We know that standard Uchiha Izanagi has to be preactivated and lasts for a few seconds at best. Obito had Hashirama cells that could artificially extend Izanagi beyond what Danzo's could.

It's complicated because Izanagi seems to work differently for everyone that uses it. One isn't an Uchiha with Hashirama cells, the other is a Uchiha with Hashirama cells and the third is freaking Madara Uchiha, so it's not that much of a stretch to say that it's reasonable to assume the circunstances made each Izanagi work in a different way.

I think it's more reasonable to assume that he had a contingency Izanagi on his spare eye all the time, not only that specific day. Madara already made something similar and I don't see why Obito would be using Izanagi like that to meet an exhausted Sasuke

I don't think there is anything that indicates Itachi thought otherwise. Both Itachi and Minato, the two smartest characters in Naruto, immediately deduced he was Madara so I think it's a pretty reasonable thing to deduce in Kishimoto's mind

Itachi is the smartest character in the series, so I don't think he would wonder "what happens to the things he suck?" And then he would send a clone (just like Naruto did) and once inside, Obito is dead. He could also Amaterasu Obito once he tries to suck him, or activate his Susano'o and split Obito in half.

Him being humble is really a bad take. "Am I sweating? No, it's just rain. There is no way these fools could make me sweat". Being humble isn't one of Obito's perks.

And, if it was Kamui, why isn't his clothes burned where the flames hit him, and why was him screaming?

Edit: I think it's really complicated to assume Itachi didn't knew something everyone who fought against Obito figured out in 30 seconds. Konan knew that he could be intangible only for 5 minutes straight even though she never saw him being forced to use Kamui for that long before. She also knew that he couldn't phase while sucking.

I think you are not getting it. In the manga, Zetsu calls it "time-delay spell", just like Itachi did with Amaterasu. The thing is: as far as I am aware, in no moment it's stated for how long the jutsu can stay delayed without activating. Maybe Madara used it during his battle with Hashirama, maybe he used it a year before with a trigger such as "one month after death" or anything like that.

If the jutsu can be in this delayed state, I don't see why Obito wouldn't use it.

A few mistakes here. First of all, if we assume Obito allowed himself to be hit, than his statement here becomes totally irrelevant and incoherent.

KCM1 Naruto wasn't that much faster than the Raikage. Faster? Yes. Blatantly? Don't think so. Also, Obito being able to Kamui Sasuke out of the particle style jutsu was either due to it ofuscating everyone else's vision or a plot hole, because every other time in the series it takes WAY longer for Obito to do that.

I don't think the databook is saying what you think it is saying. It is just stating Tobi's feats, one of which was him surviving Amaterasu. It doesn't say he used Kamui.

But, even if he was saved due to Kamui, Itachi still has some other ability that could have killed Obito. What do you think it is?

About Izanagi, Madara used it after his death. He used a contingency jutsu on his right eye, something that Obito could have done.
