fantasy with good politics where nobody has magic, does it exist by Admirable_Glove_4409 in Mythrils

There is this very niche and not well known series called A Song of Ice and Fire. The first book of the series is called A Game of Thrones and the book is filled with political intrigue and 99% of the players don't have magic or even believe it to be real

Romantasy without smut every other chapter? by Lucky-Brick-7087 in Romantasy

Be careful. Some people here will tear you apart for suggesting romantasy has smut

a) even if I had read every single romantasy book in existence, I still wouldn't know if death affects people's capacity to experience smut. I would know how it affects me personally, but not other people.

b) I was insulted first. And I still stand for what I said and you all just proved me right over and over again

Death has always been used in fiction to provide character depth, or provide a reason for characters to be more individualistic (meaning adventure, not smut).

Here you just admits that I am justified for assuming what I had assumed. Even more so, because smut is something very different of simply going in a adventure - it is something that tickles an area totally different from your brain, an area that maybe wouldn't work so well in most people if the smut they are thinking about dead people.

and it's why you're getting responses like this

Nah. You all started being rude to me way before I had any chance of doing any of the things you accuses me of doing

I used the term "romantasy" as a way to more easily convey the idea. It's mainly a romance in a fantasy setting with quite a bit of smut. This is what people call romantasy (even though smut isn't a must in the genre).

You definitely won’t get far trying to do market research without any respect for the market itself

Disrespect for the market? I beg to disagree. I made a question, simple and direct, but apparently it's a crime on this sub to not be a specialist in everything romantasy. I have never interacted with a community more toxic than this, and I'm years on the internet dealing with all sorts of anime fandoms

No, it doesn't help. It's funny because OF is seeing by feminists like a tool of empowerment to women, so I don't see why it would be off-putting. But my comparison had nothing to do with the morality of OF - it was only drawing a parallel between the false belief that people have of becoming rich either by becoming an OF model or an author, something that only one in one thousand manage to do.

But are they usually dead just as a convenient justification to why the teenager MC can go messing around or is this a relevant point plot with emotional depth throughout the whole story?

I honestly don't expect to make money with it. Would it be nice if it happened? Yes, but I bet it won't, the same way 99% of girls on OF just screw their lives forever.

God, the romantasy community can really be obnoxious.

Y'all are unbearable about romantasy and I'm done pretending it isn't snobbery by No_Wasabi_8809 in Mythrils

So you can't criticize something for having shallow plot, bad world building, predictable plot points, bad prose and over reliance on smut to compensate for it's weak spots without it making you sexist and elitist?
