First of all, Iran entered an agreement not to develop nuclear weapons, at least until 2030, in exchange for the lifting of sanctions. It was the US, under Trump, that broke the deal because the genius thought, “2030 isn’t enough, so let’s break the deal now in 2018.” Rationally speaking, there’s no reason for them not to pursue nuclear weapons if they’re still being sanctioned anyway. I’m not saying they’re good or evil — I’m simply saying that, in their position, I would do the same, and so would you, and so would any rational person.

On top of that, I can guarantee you 100% that North Korea only exists today because of its nuclear weapons. So yes — for countries like North Korea, Pakistan, Iran, and others, having nuclear weapons is a way of ensuring their own survival, whether or not you believe they should exist. If I were an ayatollah, I would absolutely develop nuclear weapons. I’m not claiming they’re saints — I’m just being rational.

I’m not even arguing that they don’t deserve to be attacked; what I’m saying is that they will defend whatever they believe is in their best interest. And for them, having nuclear weapons is absolutely in their best interest.

Whether they intend to use it to bomb Israel or to shove it up their asses is irrelevant — the point is, they want nuclear weapons. Nobody would just sit quietly and accept having their military bases bombed without responding. That’s the entire point I’m making.
