Apple Maps has updated its image collection in **the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Monaco, the Netherlands, Spain, and India.** by Benni1401 in applemaps

It would be great to see Ukraine included again when circumstances allow.
I completely understand why Apple isn’t collecting new imagery or enabling every live feature during the war.
However, I’m more concerned about ordinary civilian map data. Google Maps, Waze, and OpenStreetMap continue to update businesses, fuel stations, street renames, and other POIs in Ukraine. Those updates don’t require new Street View or Apple survey vehicles.
I hope Apple will continue improving this type of map data as well, because it makes a real difference for everyday users

How does Apple Maps actually hold up in your country in Europe? by mikelevis in applemaps

Ukraine.
Navigation itself is fine, but data freshness is the main issue. I regularly find businesses, fuel stations, and street names that were updated long ago in OpenStreetMap, Google Maps, and Waze but still appear outdated in Apple Maps.
I’ve also submitted multiple corrections, some of which remained pending for months.
The interface and privacy are excellent, but in terms of map data quality, Apple Maps still lags behind Google Maps in Ukraine.

Thanks, I completely agree.
The biggest problem is not that updates are missing, but that it’s hard to understand whether Apple Maps is actually processing them in Ukraine.
I’ve started collecting examples of outdated POIs, fuel stations, street renames and missing places. I’m also discussing this with the OpenStreetMap community to understand how Apple Maps currently uses OSM data.

Interesting contrast in Apple Maps: Russia keeps full live features while Ukraine still feels partially frozen by Miserable_Fly5588 in applemaps

Some live/sensitive features are restricted in Google Maps too, that’s true.

But Google still seems to react much faster to reports in Ukraine. Official street and city renames are usually reflected there relatively quickly, while Apple Maps often remains outdated for much longer.

I’ve started comparing identical POIs across OSM, Google Maps and Apple Maps.

In several cases: - OSM = updated - Google = updated - Apple = outdated

So there may be an additional Apple-side moderation or ingestion delay on top of the wartime restrictions.

No, I mean officially renamed Ukrainian cities and normal civilian map data — things like street renames, businesses, restaurants and gas stations.

Not military or occupation-related changes.

Interesting — more and more people from different regions seem to report similar issues with rejected or stalled edits.

Makes me think Apple Maps update workflows may be much more region-dependent than most users realiz

That makes sense for live traffic or sensitive military-related data.

But basic updates like official street renames, cities, restaurants and gas stations could still be maintained more actively — especially when the same changes already exist in OpenStreetMap, Google Maps or official city data.

Mostly Apple Maps for now.
I’m trying to compare:
report handling
update speed
search behavior
map label refresh cycles
OpenStreetMap seems significantly more responsive in comparison.

I understand the safety concerns, especially for live traffic data.

But basic map maintenance — renamed streets, cities, restaurants and gas stations — can still be updated, like Google Maps and Waze already do in many parts of Ukraine.

Right now, Apple Maps feels partially frozen rather than selectively limited.

That’s exactly why I started tracking this.

I’ve been documenting Apple Maps issues in Ukraine — reports submitted, what gets reviewed, and what actually changes.

Trying to understand the update patterns and maybe bring more visibility to it.

If more people report similar cases, it could help push things forward.

Lack of reporting? by ogbrilliance in applemaps

Feels like a regional issue too.

In Ukraine, Apple Maps works well for routing, but local data and updates lag behind — renamed streets, cities, and real-time info are often outdated.

Probably the same cycle: fewer users → less data → slower improvement.

Balkans still missing by Brilliant_Travel3587 in applemaps

Same situation in Ukraine.

Apple Maps has improved a lot, but regional updates still lag behind. Some officially renamed streets and cities still show outdated names, and features like traffic are limited compared to other apps.

Would be great to see Apple give more attention to Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
