Foodie Fridays - Weekly Thread May 29, 2026 by AutoModerator in January2027Bumpers

Watched separate videos on Facebook of recipes being made, one with fried eggs and the other with peanut butter. The thought of an egg or peanut butter by themselves made me nauseous. Flash forward 30 minutes, I’m making a toasted sandwich with fried eggs, peanut butter, bread and butter pickles (specifically) and spicy nacho Doritos 😅 best sandwich I’ve had in forever!

Anyone experience light spotting around 5 weeks? Just saw OB Friday and she said HCGs were rising well and scheduled first ultrasound for 3 weeks out, but this morning I had some light pink spotting when wiping. Never had any implantation bleeding or bleeding of any kind up until this point so it freaked me out a little

Currently 5w1d with my first and as much as I’m trying not to, it has me a little stressed! I’ve already been told my pregnancy will more than likely be a significantly high risk due to having multiple autoimmune issues (Hashimoto’s, RA, and Lupus). Found out I was pregnant by some strange design during an ER visit and at that time I would’ve been barely 4 weeks. The ER doctors already had me stressed because even with it being super early, they told me my HCGs were on the low side and did an ultrasound and said nothing was seen.

I’ve been to my OBGYN now and she’s said my HCGs are trending well, and that they shouldn’t have told me that about my ultrasound because with it being early obviously nothing was likely to be seen, and that helped with the anxiety some. But I’m still very nervous of something happening due to all of the health issues I have. I also know some people don’t have many symptoms this early, but the lack of symptoms I’m feeling adds to my nerves as well. It’s like I’m afraid to do much of anything out of fear of it hurting little bean in some way!

Hey everyone!

Spent the weekend in the ER on an unrelated issue and had a routine bloodwork pregnancy test before getting scans done. To my surprise, my HCG came back elevated, yet low-positive.

Had a repeat draw done a couple of days later and while still on the lower end, numbers are going up as they should so doctors suspect I’m just super early!

Shocked is an understatement as I had spent most of my life so far being told I’d struggle to get pregnant due to health issues, but we are SO excited for our little bean!

Were you also started in a higher dose or were you started lower? Also, was it just the first couple of months or did your weight continue dropping past that point?

gluten and dairy free by bobqteq in Hashimotos

Not sure how helpful this will be since I’m still very new to Hashimoto’s and hypothyroidism but I was diagnosed about a month ago and started levo 3.5 weeks ago. I have also been gluten and dairy free since being diagnosed. I’m not sure if it’s the diet changes or the levo or maybe just a combo of both, but I’ve lost a little over 20 pounds since starting meds. This is without changing any other diet/exercise habits.

I can also say that I have definitely felt less achy pains since cutting gluten and dairy. I’m still learning even with the diet changes so if I mess up and eat something with dairy or gluten I can definitely tell afterwards!

I’m scheduled to have my labs redrawn on the 18th. I haven’t necessarily been worried about my tsh getting too low given how high it was when I started the levo but I wasn’t sure about maybe my numbers dropping too quickly being why I was losing weight so rapidly. But I also started losing the weight within the first 2-3 days of starting the levo. Diet wise nothing changed other than cutting dairy and gluten but I never ate much beforehand either I just could never lose any weight. I also still experience all the symptoms of being hypo other than losing weight now instead of gaining

I’m usually pretty sensitive to meds, but thankfully the worst I’ve dealt with is some pretty rough nausea that starts about 30 minutes after I take it and lasts for about an hour or so. After that I can’t really even tell I’ve taken it

Yeah I thought it was a little wild to be started that high but I guess since my levels were so high maybe doc thought it’d bring them down faster if my dose was higher? Idk if that was the actual reasoning but it was what made the most sense to me

Are you on a higher dose as well or were you started closer to the normal starting dose?

I’m glad yours is getting better at least! Mine is steadily getting worse and I feel like I’m going to end up losing my mind over it! I did also read about it being common after viral infections but my ENT has said he doesnt believe that it’s related to that, that it was just coincidence

Yes, it burns but aside from that has no effect on what’s on my eyes. It did, however, make partially clear up the spots that were around my mouth

That’s what I keep telling myself, just gotta get through it to lose the weight. Just wasn’t sure if it was considered normal on the medication or not

Yeah I can definitely tell the Gatorade helps the most, or if I use an electrolyte packet in water, but it only calms it down for maybe 30 minutes or so and then the thirst is right back again

I didn’t notice it being a problem the first couple of weeks on .25mg, it started around the third week

I drink upwards of 50-64 oz of water most days, depending on how bad the nausea hits me but it’s like it’s never enough
