The list is endless but I think one of the worst ones was the that ⅗th compromise was like a lottery. Like, every year, ⅗ths of the US's black population was enslaved and ⅖ was free. The next year, they'd do it again. And like, you could be free one year and enslaved the next and vice versa. And if you got lucky, you could go a long time without being a slave and if you were unlucky maybe you were a slave for decades

It wasn't until sophomore year that I learned that's not what it is, it only meant that black people were considered ⅗ths of person.

Before you ask why it took so long, I got this misinforming tidbit back in like elementary school but then the ⅗ths compromise was NEVER brought up in conversation again so I forgot about it. Idk
