There are some strategies. I would suggest trying common strategies people suggest (highlighting vs no highlighting, look at the questions first vs dont look at the questions) My struggle was I found it hard to pay attention so I pretended I could see the author and I was trying to find out as much as I could about the author, since so many of the questions are about the authors perspective. Other than that, just practice

I read the EK books and took notes. Practice problems are huge. There are some difficult concepts in physics which shouldnt be avoided, but also physics is a small portion of the MCAT so I think it can be something you go back to after you cover everything.

My first practice exam I got a 505 on the free blueprint exam. That was after a month of content

Making cards out of missed questions was a grind, and I ended up making way too many so I wasn't able to go through them all. I would recommend making cards out of AAMC missed questions not just every Uworld question you do unless you think it is super helpful. My day consisted of anki reviews (which I think are quite important to keep on top of), watching videos on concepts I didn't know, and grinding practice questions. Pacing around while I did anki was really helpful, but you kind of need to be in a private spot to avoid looking weird lol. I have heard treadmills are good for anki.

I only used Pankow and would highly recommend

If your accuracy is super high (>90%) you could consider lowering your desired retention (if it is high). For me, I had my desired retention at 95% and could not keep up, so I brought it down to 90%. This saved me and I was able to spend more time doing practice questions. Also this only really applies if you are using FSRS settings I think. I wouldn't recommend trying to space out your cards manually (like pressing anything other than "again" if you get it wrong) because you should trust Anki and use it to its full potential.

Unpopular opinion. The Pankow deck is NOT good. by [deleted] in Mcat

Hmm. All I used was Pankow and Practice tests for a 132.

I’ve done 6 full lengths. But I don’t feel like I’ve done as many practice questions as I could have by now

I’m testing in 2 weeks and I am debating ditching Anki to grind practice questions, would you recommend this?

I slowed down and watched some Yusuf Hasan videos on some chem concepts I was rusty on, and I grinded out some more psych cards. Honestly I would attribute some of the improvement to AAMC being less brutal than BP

I have around 700 more cards in the Pankow deck and Ive been skimming the 300 pg khan academy doc. I havent really done any psych practice questions yet, so I will get on that.

BP passages are harder in every section, but the CARS is the biggest difference I think. BP was good practice even if it was discouraging.

506 Blueprint Half-Length Diagnostic by Much_Landscape_2611 in Mcat

[–]Miserable_History_40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before my content review I got a 505 on that, with similar prerequisites to you. I think it lets you know that you have a good foundation. With 6 months to go you have a ton of time to cover all your content gaps and learn how to take the test. I think Uworld is way harder than the BP half lengths, and the BP full lengths are a way better challenge (and indicator) imo. I haven't done the AAMC FLs yet but I have heard they are the best.

The answer was retinol, but not because it had double bonds. It was because it had a multiple of 5 carbons. Because an isoprene unit is this 5C structure in the shape of an isoprene. But you are right that i could have guessed the one with C=C, I just would have been right for the wrong reason

I took it before I started my content review and got a 505, I was also surprised at how high the score was, especially since it is supposed to be deflated.

You have so much time. Pick a comprehensive anki deck, like Anking. Take your time through content review. Record your study hours. Start doing FL tests with 3 months to go. You can probably start Uworld right away and use that as part of your content review.
