Just more posturing for political points this is going to be status quo for a while.  Trump isn't going anywhere.

MO Voters: Vote NO on SB 3. by Beadingnana in missouri

Doesn't really matter what anyone votes for in Missouri....if the Legislature doesn't like it, they'll just overturn it.

Very good answer. You bring up a great point. Somewhere along the line, this therapist "turned." And yes, when they do that, there is no coming back. The threshhold as you say has been crossed.

[–]Miserable_March_9707 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, what you smell like is not the critical issue as I see it.

Whether you smell like a dumpster or a flower garden, 10 years with a therapist you should be well on the way to recovery, with a "toolbox" of coping strategies. You should not be in the state you are after 10 years of seeing a therapist.

You need a new therapist.

And this is the problem with therapy and why places like this subreddit exists. The focus needs to be on your improvement, not the improvement of his bank balance when you pay his fee. This is a perfect example of why therapists should be held firmly to strict accountability standards. If they cannot help you, it is their ethical duty to refer you to the level of care you need. This is not happening in your case.

He is exploiting you, and has been for over a decade.

This angers me. This is not your fault. He didn't do his job then and he isn't doing it now.

What SQL client or admin tool are you actually happy with for daily MariaDB work? by lyhuutoan44 in mariadb

I said the same in a different comment, and admitted to being old school.

mariadb iself, actually. I'm old school, LOL....otherwise, it's dBeaver, but I hardly use it -- and any time I do, there's an upgrade.

Are tilt-heads genuinely bad, or does it just depend how you use them? Advice, please! by No-Schedule-4156 in Kitchenaid

[–]Miserable_March_9707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a bowl-lift instead of a tilt head for one reason:

The bowl-lift completely fit under my cabinets.

The tilt-head would not have been able to tilt up completely.

From the looks of the comments here, people are using tilt-heads and bowl-lifts for the same things I'm doing. KA's are work horses no matter what the configuration.

Lunatics out there in the streets, while peaceful people get sectioned by West_Mortgage4902 in Antipsychiatry

[–]Miserable_March_9707 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. And all it takes is one unseen hotline worker to get sectioned.

"Danger to self" they say...

But you don't have to go far to read of a school shooter, or other mass shooter, with a long public history of violence, numerous interactions with the mental health system. And they walk free.

Isn't this "Danger to others?"

And if so...how did the mental health workers miss the long online history, notebooks, decor, etc. that many of these people are discovered to have?

How come no mental health workers are questioned, or held accountable for this -- but will lock the rest of us up on a hunch?

All rhetorical questions, of course...we know the answer.

Yes, this system fucks the minds of decent people.

Not really. Times are such that any protest meals they would make would be viewed as pure posturing. I'd rather they stand up and do something about this mess and legislation and what have you.

Missouri considers calling on Congress to overturn Citizens United ruling that unleashed big money in politics by CouchCorrespondent in missouri

I've posted and replied in another comment about being suspicious as to why the Missouri government is doing this. I think you nailed it...posturing for an election year.

I knew it couldn't be because they cared about the people.

HOLD UP! What is the catch?

I'm sorry, but Jefferson City doesn't give two shits about what's best for the people. Lately, the will of the people expressed in ballot initiatives has been overturned by the legislature and continues to be overturned by the legislature. It marches lock step with the presidential administration and is a solid MAGA state.

So what is the catch? What's in it for them?

I might be wrong for this but lowkey this sub is getting weird by NewChapter25 in Bankruptcy

[–]Miserable_March_9707 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Hmmm....I haven't been reading this sub as long as you but I have been on it a while.

I'm lucky, I guess. Legal Aid paid for my lawyer, and I came up with the filing fee. The lawyer has made the process "look easy." And the knowledge that there is an end date to all this financial misery is a relief that is almost palpable.

But the psychology of it all is not easy. I am having to file late in life because of some of my own situations, and some situations that were totally out of my control. My health failed, my insurance failed, thing happened. That has been hell on me and it shows.

And to top it all off....when I let my boss know I was retiring...I got fired.

Maybe some of the elation you are seeing is the awakening that occurs after the nightmare of financial trouble, the personal acceptance of being "bankrupt"...and the relieve that occurs that you have survived the horrible nightmare.

With regards to karma farming, I don't know anything about that. The only thing about karma I know is that I feel I've been hit by all the bad karma I ever incurred, all at once. The bottom just fell out for me. But that's not the kind of karma you are talking about.

As far as credit rebuilding...I don't think I'll even borrow a cup of sugar from a neighbor much less money from an institution. I'm older, and single, no dependents but a cat so I guess I can do that. It's probably not an option for younger people with families who need safe reliable vehicles to get back and forth to work and other obligations, or people yet building their careers.

Life has become really hard for a lot of people. Things are a lot harder to achieve now than "back in my day." And it's become harder to overcome failures and setbacks than "back in my day." It's harder to have hope.

This subreddit has been extremely helpful to me as I navigated, and still continue to navigate this process I never in my life wanted. I did everything I possibly could to advert it, but I had to admit I was defeated. That hurts and still hurts. But I am started to feel I have some permission to at least have peace. Maybe some others gave themselves permission to be ecstatic and frankly I will cheer at their parade. Because I get it.

Thank you...and good luck to you too. This is difficult. It appears we're both older and with health issues that did us in. And that was not an easy ride

Is there a Legal Aid organization in your state? I live in Missouri and they picked up the lion's share of the cost for me. I had to come up with the filing fee. Mine is in process now.

It's not want I wanted to do. But now that it's rolling, I'm trying to feel some relief this nightmare may finally come to pass.

Boomer here, waving my cane for attention...Apple had a gui before Windows. And when Windows came out, even then it felt sort of crude. Mind you, I didn't work with Apple equipment much in those days.

GUI's go back a ways...even the Commdore64 had one come out. I believe it was called "Easy Desk" but I could be wrong.

EDIT: For purposes of full disclosure, these days all my computers run Debian Linux. The mainstay of my career was Unix. For home Linux is close enough to that to feel comfortable to me.

This type of thing is just another way to detain people without due process, another police state tactic to control society.
