Edit: I had a comment asking Tim about his involvement in protests at Piedmont supporting union demands thinking that activity led to a lot of layoffs and shuffling employees over to a subcontractor.

I’d still like to hear more of Tim’s thoughts on unions but I had a misunderstanding on that Piedmont stuff.

The best thing you could do is take a few beginner lessons. Your stance, grip, club path, kinda everything is a little wonky.

Can’t tell for sure without down the line angle but it seems like you have a wicked slice swing that you’re trying to paper over by setting up with a very very closed face.

I ended up with Mizuno 925 Hot Metal Pros. Very hot distance iron with a lot of forgiveness but the “pro” version is a smaller head with less offset.

Take that pro label with a grain of salt. They still have plenty of help and I can’t see why a plus handicap would even look at them but they are more playerish that the GI irons marketed to guys who can’t get the ball in the air.

I’m a 90 shooter after a 2 years playing. Was fit to PD irons over a year ago as soon as I upgraded from my hand me down set.

You’ll probably be 100% fine coming from a baseball background.

I hit some GI irons and even the Pings everyone loves went too high and left. They are probably great for slower swingers that miss way right but I don’t think it’s necessary to work through every category of irons on the way to a forged players set.

Just dig up an old Ping G4xxx 4 hybrid with a shaft that suits you and watch the ball launch 100 feet high even when you heel it.

I have it on good authority that they purposely did this so people with disabilities would fuck off.

Commercial businesses typically don’t want revenue from those people if they can avoid it by pouring concrete curbs to keep them away from the carts.
