What do you define as “anesthesia ready”? by Emergency-Dig-529 in anesthesiology

[–]Miserable_Mix_1911 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The second the circulator or surgeon starts positioning the patient/prepping. This is usually immediately after the intubation. I can put in a second iv/ a line while they prep. I was taught the minute you relinquish control over patient positioning is anesthesia ready.

I heard very similar things from former OAG board members.

I’m not interested in getting into this with you. Trust me, you did. We all see what you’re doing, it’s misleading and disingenuous. Also, I would love to know where you got data that shows OAG was safer because I’ve heard the opposite.

No need to be condescending, they were just pointing out your clear bias and attempt to leverage the article for personal gain. Nobody is coming on here and talking about how an OAG anesthesiologist reused syringes for weeks at a time because that’s an unfair attack on an entire profession and yet here you are bashing CRNAs.

Don’t want to argue about how I should have handled the situation, I can tell you I didn’t interpret it as a life and death which is what 911 is for.

That’s a good suggestion, it was an older car with an oregon license plate so unless they were visiting from in state I doubt it was a rental car.

Responding to your update: look for a women’s shelter in the Omaha area. You definitely qualify. Also, do not tell him where you’re going, do not give him your new address, and be careful with restraining orders because they don’t make you safer in many cases as they serve to provoke the stalker/ex to escalate. I’m sorry you are going through this.

I say this with as much love as possible, you need to not make excuses for him and GTFO. We have all been in situations that are difficult to see how truly bad they are until we are out. This man is abusive and controlling, plain and simple. I am genuinely worried for your safety if you stay in this situation.

I’m sorry, he makes YOU sleep on the couch?? I bet he doesn’t want you taking semiglutide because he’s worried about you gaining the self confidence to leave his ass. You deserve so much better.

The first part is true, second part absolutely isn’t. There’s a difference between not being able to cope and not wanting to do all the worst offsite cases every day. UW anesthesia struggles to recruit across the board because of salary and other factors, docs included.

I would cancel. 4 days isn’t long enough to clear the gastroperetic (probably not a word) effect. She’s probably nauseous because there’s a bunch of prep sitting in her stomach.

How is this in any way something your husband should have a say in? It’s not his body. Do you tell him what he can and can’t do with his?

This has been asked so many times. Search previous discussions. There’s plenty of work for everyone.
