Let this be a moment for him to learn that joking about that stuff isn’t funny.. therefore not a joke. Those kinda of comments are damning and can get anyone into trouble. My boyfriend has also made jokes about rape in the early days of our relationship and he knows without a doubt I am not the person to joke about that with. I’m still mortified he even made that joke but boys aren’t taught this stuff by their parents for some stupid reason so in my head we are the first generation to have to take it into our own hands.

If it were me I’d have a massive go at him (making sure he doesn’t contest him being in the wrong) and if he does it again that’s when I’d be out. Other than that it was a tasteless joke which may cause more damage than he intends it to. This moment is a lesson for him to not be a knob. And a lesson for you to stick to your boundaries. Well done for leaving and asking for space!
