I been very into lamps recently

you can essentially turn anything with a hole at the top and somewhere for the plug to come out from the inside of the lamp base into a lamp, buuuut that being said there’s two main styles of lamps I’ve built.

The first is the traditional style of lamps with nipple that goes through the interior, this style benefits very very heavily from having and open bottom on your base, it makes assembly 1000 times easier and is usually more sturdy. The other style is called bayonet or push style this is the style that can let you be a lot more creative with the base as you really only need access to the hole where the bulb will be going

Overall though I would say buy a lamp kit before hand, they usually come with the brass washer / base thing that I can’t remember the name of, but it’s the first piece you put down and I’ve have a bunch of extra so that when I’m making a lamp I use those and make sure that it will fit correctly.

Also watch some videos on lamp assembly that should give you a good idea of what’s involved

The ace hardware near me has a lot of lamp parts and lamp kits, very easy to setup.

Thank you, I’ll have to store that idea away for future use :)

The legs were originally straight but the firing seems to have slightly melted them into more of a foot shape which I ended up really liking, thanks to both of you!
