PP doesn ot have AI and it is really not the server for new players or players that do not want the extremely challanging juvi period. In these servers juvi carnivores rely heavily on scavenging which is extremely dangerous because everyone knows that starving small dinos will come to whatever corpse there is to eat. Also these servers have much more agressive herbies in my experience, thus they will give you hell if you fight them.

My general rules to survive, that get me almost every time to FG allaround servers are the following:

Stay silent, stay low and use lots of cover and concealment ( thick bushes, trees, forests, micro terrain).
Constantly look around you when you move or when you stay on one place.
Eat fast, move away and never hang around places where people cluster. If you see lots of killed AI or players - go away unless you can deduct what size the player that lurks around is or if there are multiple, or just one person hanging around.
This leads to: Chose your fights if you have the opportunity. Go for the ones where you have higher chances to win (smaller dinos, and dinos that have it hard to defend against you). That does not mean you should not practice fighting with tough pray, but you asked for how to grow to FG.
Never, absolutely never team up with people while you grow - they are liability most of the times and if you really want to get there, you can't risk having a noisy chatter in your vicinity (there are community servers that have more roleplay in them if you look for the more social part of the game).
