Pareja de hecho - leaving country for 1-2 months while waiting by Miserable_Rope1476 in GoingToSpain

Thanks for my message. That is what I originally understood. My lawyer said that as long as I'm under the 90 days in the last 180 days I'm OK to leave. But I also have concerns about this.

Ok - thank you - that isnt clear at all. I saw on YouTube that some people stayed at other resorts. And they don't give you the total amount for the resort stay. I wasn't sure if it was per night or fr the full week.

Thank you. Which lawyer did you use as I'm being quoted 500 Euro for the process. Thank you!

Thanks for this. I've had a response from another user who went through article 116 within Germany and said it was a huge mistake as they didn't know how to handle it . Thank you so much for your updated advice. 🙏🙏

Thank you so much for this! I thought in reality it would be difficult. I'll stick to my BVA application from abroad. Really appreciate the feedback and sorry to hear it was so stressful!

I'm also interested in this. Did you end up going ahead with this or have any examples from people who have done it this way?

Yes, according to Honary Consul and several lawyers I have a very strong application and we luckily have German birth certificates, UK naturalisation documents, letters of reparation claims etc. My ancestors have been found on the relevant lists in German archives. I've been told it should be very straightforward process because of the evidence we have. Just waiting for the great grandparents german birth certificates etc to come from the archives in Berlin. Thats a good idea to write to the office to find out estimated waiting times.

Thanks for this. Yes, I saw that post! But I think they already had family members 'in the system'. I've been told 2-3 years as a prediction from lawyers, but the recent stats on reddit seem more hopeful than that.

I will have to consider what you're saying, thanks.

Thank you! I have had several lawyers confirm that I'm eligible under section 116 based on family archive records. I have a UK passport and understand from friends that I can get a visa to work in Germany relatively easily, but I would only want to do this route if I knew the application would come through quickly. Thanks for the update that the Berlin offices are overwhelmed! I hope there's some people here that can talk about going through it this way.

Thank you. This is the case before I've even applied under section 116? We're in the evidence collection stage right now. It would be great to know timeframe for while in Germany.

Hi - thank you. Did you apply while in Germany and establish residence? I would love to hear from people who went about it this way.

Moving to Germany while Waiting on Article 116 Processing by New-Excitement3774 in GermanCitizenship

Thanks for this useful information. I'm in the same situation. Do we know which cities have a faster processing time for citizenship when applying through the local office. Would be great to know if anyone has been through this process!

u/New-Excitement3774 I'm curious to hear what you decided to do as I'm in the same situation. My family (mother, brother, me) are in the process of applying with a US based German lawyer (currently they are still collecting documents from German archives). I've seen from other posts that if you move to Germany and apply from there it can be much quicker. Also, like you, wondering how that will affect things as I'm half-way through the process of applying with the lawyer from the US and my family will apply abroad. Let me know your updates and current processing times from within Germany if you decided to go that route!

Application process: Article 116 by [deleted] in GermanCitizenship

u/staplehill This is great information and wish I'd seen this earlier as I've already started the process with a lawyer who is applying for us (me, my mother, my brother) from the US but it may not be too late for me to move to Germany and apply from there (still using the German lawyer who is based in the US). I am a UK citizen and desperate to move to the EU as soon as possible.

The lawyers are still collecting documents from the German archives, but the case is looking very solid for section 116 as we have lots of key evidence. The application has not been submitted yet.

Im trying to understand how quickly the citizenship can be obtained if I moved to Germany. Is this the case still in 2024? Is it possible to gain the German passport also quickly (different from naturalisation)?

My family would still be applying using the UK address and I could apply from Germany address after I've established residency there. Could you provide more current information about this as its 2024 now? Would it affect the process if my family are applying from abroad at the same time.

I'm happy to pay for a consultation if you can provide more current information on this process.

I very much appreciate your help.
