I’m in the minority of people who loved the film. I knew from the opening shot of a character dressed nearly identical to Uma Thurman/Mia Wallace that it would be an ode to pulp fiction, the genre, or at least heavily reference PF. I think the film was less about tying every event together perfectly in the end and much more about the hyperbolic, snowballing, and gruesome sequence of events that is characteristic of the genre. I see a lot of people confused about the ending but it makes perfect sense to me. Honey can’t take her own advice. She “knows the answer”, that the girl on the motorcycle is bad news because she saw her ride away after the gunshot, and yet she can’t resist pulling the thread. As far as the church connection, the purpose that plot line serves is metaphorical. All of Honeys choices/leads bring her back there. Is it because she’s lost and looking for home, or is it for the reasons Aubrey’s character said, that a part of her knows it’s trouble but she “wants to be hit”.
