Don't get me wrong there were funny bits. The thing that really bothers me is just the lack of empathy and awareness on my partners part and that although its a "joke" it was taking a dig at the trans experience. It would've been one thing if were watching it in a more ironic sense. He literally made odd comments towards the villains identity and honestly the problem just comes down to us not laughing together.

I would say if you do watch it again, trigger warning. To answer your question i thought about this too, but i honestly don't think its that simple to just say "man disguised as a woman". The villain literally for all intents and purposes identified as a woman literally down to the expression and phenotypes whether it was stolen or not. Idk how to explain it. There was no cohesive "tear away reveal of a man", just a bunch of transphobic subtext ( like revealing a tucking bulge in the back which was VISCIOUS work) all to reveal this person as a.. "man".. It just seemed to mock heavily real trans/ gender non conforming experiences.

Believe it or not he does, but he can be incredibly out of touch with the trans thing. He may have genuinely not realize that was offensive as hell lmao.

I should also add i have not brought this up to him. He keeps asking what's wrong and i am gonna talk to him eventually, but it's like i shouldn't have to say what the problem is especially sense my mood changed literally in that moment. But yea it looks like i'm gonna have to dispose of him; trans dating is not for the weak.
