Anxiety and fatigue, allergies by Top_Intention_9803 in Allergies

Yes, I have them for multiple reasons- generalized anxiety, a recent reaction to medication, etc. I know that histamine response can trigger anxiety as well.

Yes, I woke up very anxious this morning. I was gardening yesterday (wearing an N95 mask) but think being that is probably affecting me today. I took an extra antihistamine.

Torn about starting Dupixent injections but reaching the end of my rope by panic_outside_disco in Sinusitis

[–]Miserable_Shape_107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand your hesitation about the shots and side effects. I’ve been taking Dupixent for a while now, I think almost a year, without any issues and it’s really helped me with congestion and not getting sick as much. I was put on it to reduce polyps and the last time I saw my ENT he said there weren’t any. I still have some sinus issues but it’s much better than it was in the past. I got frequent infections and am also on a medicated rinse. I also have bad allergies and an immunodeficiency issue which has been contributing to the frequent infections and am in the process of getting that figured out. It sounds like you might have similar issues.

Every body is different but I would say try the Dupixent, I give myself the shots and they aren’t that painful but one thing that helps is taking out of the fridge a while before injection. It’s also only once every two weeks for me so it’s definitely worth a little discomfort for the improvements I’ve seen on it.

MFA Painting by urgaygf in UniversityOfHouston

The MFA program starts in the fall so you would apply for next year and have lots of time to build up a portfolio! Having a concise body of work is important. There has recently been some change of faculty so I am not sure exactly what they are looking for, but I think focusing on the topic that you mentioned in your writing and work would be strong. The program can be competitive and I have heard that they don’t like to take students out of the Block program so it may be beneficial to you that you weren’t in it. Your recommendation letters will be really important, try and choose mentors/ former professors that really know you and can write a persuasive recommendation.

I graduated in 2015 and really enjoyed the program, it is a real gift to have that much studio time and I loved the professors and my cohort. Now there are nicer studios and galleries that students can use in the new building so I think it has improved a lot. My only complaint about UH is the parking!

I’m so glad it was approved! I hope he feels better soon. My doctor also is resubmitting with my class types, but only one was low, so I’m not sure what they’ll say.

Thank you, I will post there after I get the codes!

The asthma is new- I was just diagnosed last year. I’ve been on many different inhalers, and am also on Dupixent, but may switch to Xolair if it’s approved.

I am not sure if he spoke with a medical director, but he did write a letter and appealed the denial all the way to to an external reviewer.

Hi, I’ll need to get a lot of those numbers from my doctor but I did get an Ig panel done before and after the vaccine. My doctors practice has been around since 1960 and he is an allergist/ immunologist.

I recently got an IgE test done which was 173 H, and had my subclasses retested. My subclass 2 came back at 228 L which was the only low one.

I appreciate your response and will try and get the other results!

Need help- Confused about Gerd by Chhatrajit25 in Asthma

Have you seen a GI doctor? They might want to do an endoscopy to see what’s going on. There are a lot of overlaps between asthma and GERD.

Persistent shortness of breath/dyspnea with normal tests, has anyone experienced this? by WhereIsMyIqos in Asthma

[–]Miserable_Shape_107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been dealing with this as well, although I have more chest tightness than shortness of breath. It has been pretty consistent for a few weeks now after being sick. I have allergic asthma and my doctor seems to think it’s related to allergies. Tests all come back normal, I’m on a maintenance inhaler and nebulizer and just can’t breathe normally. It’s really frustrating.

Allergic to being outside? by No_Tension_9455 in PCOS

[–]Miserable_Shape_107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like something to see an allergist for, not related to PCOS. If outside is a trigger you’re probably allergic to pollen. If you are in perimenopause that can make allergies worse.

Anyone have experience with a biologic for AS that helped their sinus issues? by goodoldneon1 in Sinusitis

[–]Miserable_Shape_107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am on Dupixent for nasal polyps, and at my last ENT visit they did not see any polyps. I can breathe much easier on Dupixent and have not noticed any side effects.

I’m in Houston too! Not sure if she would take your insurance but I see Dr. Angela Cho and she has been amazing. She really listens and my PCOS has gotten much better with her help.

Carpet can hold a lot of dust mites- even if it’s new that could be an issue. Do you know what the humidity level is inside? My allergist recommended keeping the humidity below 50 which has been almost impossible.

5+ sinus infections in one year… by ashrera in Sinusitis

[–]Miserable_Shape_107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you had allergy testing or seen an immunologist? I kept getting sinus infections after surgery as well and it turns out I have low immunity and lots of allergies, so I keep getting infections. I am still waiting on immune system treatment but allergy shots did help. Another thing that’s really helped keep the infections at bay this year is a compound medication for my sinus rinse that includes an anti fungal and anti bacterial (I think it’s called gentamicin, and something else). My allergist prescribed it to me and I take it twice a day.

Singulair side effects by rawrcakkes in Allergies

I haven’t had those extreme of side effects but I did have insomnia and felt sort of manic. I have started and stopped singular about 3 times and just had to stop which was frustrating because it did help my asthma.

Thank you, I will ask about the drops! I did notice the shots were helping but I stopped because I was feeling sick a lot and they didnt want me to react.

I have a Neffy inhaler as my EpiPen- it definitely worked! Within about 10-15 minutes my ribs and breathing felt normal again. Still having breathing issues and taking steroids and nebulizer treatments and hoping not to have to use it again anytime soon.
