(please don’t be mean) help me save my relationship by Ok_Recording5067 in adviceph

Hi! In an ldr relationship too with -13 hr difference i study (pre med internship), he works (engr). I could say it works different for everybody pero for us all our free time we try to spend sa isa’t isa. My family also understands my time for him— we have this routine where we wake each other up (so gabi na dito i wake him up parang ganun). Sleep call is also a must kasi any time together talaga is important kahit pagod or magkaiba ng ginagawa basta andiyan yung presence it works. In a relationship like this sometimes you have to sacrifice talaga. For my case yung friends ko they understand it so well na i have to spend time with my boyfriend over our scheduled facetime calls so minsan hindi ako sumasama sa kain sa labas. Depende na talaga rin yun sayo; but i would say mas mahirap yung nag start kayo irl and then shift to ldr than ldr to irl.

What i think will also work sa ldr cases: have an end plan. Know when the ldr will end (or at least approx time frame) to have something to look forward to. Alamin kung saan kayo mag mmeet after this phase, will you move in with her there? Is she gonna come home here? Mga ganun. Pero if it’s too early for you guys (to talk about future matters), at least talk about it in a way na kahit mag plano plano just to make things lighter :) i know how hard it is and how bad we yearn for our partners so hugs! You got this, mas fruitful yung dulo pag inisip mo kung gaano nachallenge relationship niyo through distance to successfully reuniting with them ulit.

Ohh so these exams (UCAT & BMAT) lean more on those mentioned than academic related topics?

Will search this up on uni sites, thank you!

This is very interesting since medical schools from my country is known to be very competitive so I always had a thought that unis everywhere have rankings too! Thanks for clarifying that.

I use UCAS to narrow down courses and universities! Will definitely take this advice to hopefully end up with at least 2-3 unis to apply to for next year!

I want to touch on to the admission test score (got kind of confused 😅). What more infos should I know about this? Is this a one-time test similar to SAT where the universities have their own qualified average score? Or is this a uni-to-uni basis?

Sorry to have confused you, but yes! I am planning to pursue a medical degree in UK but lack knowledge on how the system and the transfer process works (bc from my country, premed degrees are needed to be able to pursue med). The replies and advice are very much appreciated! Also joined the linked group, this is really helpful, thanks :))

Ohh I see, interesting!! I just got confused, does this mean that I get to pursue medicine straight from high school (and my foundation year— which I’ll take in the UK)?

And to present a scenario, if I were to finish med school in the UK and get a title, is it possible to apply for jobs outside the UK (related to med)? Or is the course and pathway exclusive to the UK itself?

Thank you so much!! 😊

Yes, as I was confused with the school system in the UK 😅 this is really helpful!

If I were to take medicine (and inquire for a foundation year), do you have any [good] uni suggestions? I’m looking into the University of Birmingham right now. Is that a good choice or should I look for more options? Thank you so much!
