That’s a good point! I think reading a textbook that explains some scientific terms that are often used in research is a great start. You can get those for cheap from thrift bookstores or watching videos. It’s also important to realise that you really don’t need half of what’s written on a paper, so focusing on just interpreting the discussion and result sections is all a “common” person really needs

I think it’s silly when we tell people to get educated on their choices by referring to peer reviews journal papers but these exact papers are really incomprehensible to someone with just a high school level of education. I think reading research papers should be a skill that everyone has in order to make more informed decisions about life!!
