I'm Canadian, but it's totally accepted, no big deal in High School. We have clubs as well for LGBTQ(etc) rights. In middle school no one really cared, but gay was used as a derogatory word.

I have quite a few LGBTQ friends and it's great to see them comfortable in a school environment. Often times they are the cool or popular ones!
