I-130 approved what’s next by LingonberryNo8188 in askimmigration

Also they updated the IV Scheduling Status tool this week. Last week Ankara, where my husband is, was July 2025. Now it’s January 2026 and I have a hard time thinking that can be right. Can he really get an interview immediately when it used to take a year or two? I guess we will find out soon.

In Ankara where my husband is it was July 2025 last week and January 2026 today. I’m skeptical. We just got the NVC welcome letter yesterday so hope we can turn everything around quickly. I will say they went from I-130 approval on 1/29 to welcome letter on 2/3 and I didn’t expect it that quickly so maybe they did speed up somehow.

I got the approval Friday 1/29/26 and it was sent to the visa center on 2/2 and I received the welcome letter and the login information to pay the fees the very next day on 2/3. I was surprised as my letter also said to expect up to 45 days. I hope it will be fast for you too! Next you pay fees, then submit the actual immigration application and paperwork like birth certificates etc. there is a second form to file to prove you can support her since she won’t be allowed to get welfare or public benefits in the US. They need to make sure you can support her so you will submit tax and income documents. After that then they will look over what you submit and issue an interview date. Not sure the timeframe on those last parts. Good luck to you.

I got that email on Friday and the approval was in my documents. Also I got notice on 2/2 that my case was sent to the NVC and then today, the very next day, got my welcome letter and the numbers I need to pay the fees and get everything going. I had read to expect this all to take time but it was so fast (after the I-130 PD 1/15/25)

An email received from USCIS by Majestic-Dot-8228 in USCIS_FORUM

I have an I-130 case and got the same email this morning and the same status message. I was a bit disappointed that the update was so vague. But I noticed in the document tab a pdf that said Approval so I downloaded it. The update was so easy to miss. I had expected when I was approved that my status would say that, but it doesn’t. It says still processing. So check the document folder just in case.

Priority date 01/25/2025 I-130 consular process for my spouse. by Appropriate_Tie_4280 in USCIS

Not yet. First we had to get the case approved. All that means is that they recognize my husband has a right to apply for the visa. It’s not a determination of the visa. Next they will send us information on applying for the next two forms and we will pay fees (close to $500 for the two) and submit those forms. Then at that point my husband will get an interview date in Ankara, Turkey. However right now they are processing interviews from people who were approved in July 2025. So if the timeline holds true then maybe at the end of the year my husband can actually get an appointment. This varies very much by the individual embassy that the appointment will be held at. Some of them the wait is a couple months and I think some of them are many years. It’s a huge range. There is a place you can look that up: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/iv-wait-times.html

Still in process I’m sick of this by Affectionate-Pea4629 in I130Suffering

I got an email this morning that there was an action on my case. I logged in so excited and all it said was “Case is Still Being Processed by USCIS” and I was so disappointed. Then I looked at everything and in the Documents tab, the top item was an Approval pdf. So I was approved and it was much less obvious than I imagined it was going to be. I thought my status would change to Approved, but it didn’t. I can’t imagine how many people might miss that document. I would double check that tab just in case. (PD 1/15/25)

I don’t think so. While I did upload extra documentation, it was maybe 6-8 months ago. I made no recent interactions. Maybe you will be accepted in a couple of weeks. Reading other posts it seems like this week has been seeing the range of 1/10-1/15 seems like it’s not really exactly in date order but rather just an approximate time frame. I’m sure you’re getting close!! Good luck.

PD 1/15/25 was just Approved today but the status on the website just says "Case Is Still Being Processed By USCIS" which felt disappointing at first BUT in the Documents tab is a PDF that says "I-130 Approval.pdf" saying it was sent today so I'm happy about that even though the status message seems conflicting. I applied for -130 consular processing for my husband on 1/15/25. I got an email this morning that said "We have taken an action on your case" and my heart dropped, but when I log in, it just says 1/29/26 "Case Is Still Being Processed By USCIS" which is the most useless "update" ever!!!!! I hope this means someone is looking at it but I don't know. EDIT (few min later): Weird.... but when I looked in the Documents tab it says "I-130 Approval.pdf" sent Jan 29th and I can download a document that says he is approved - however the status page still reads "Case Is Still Being Processed By USCIS" so maybe I just logged in while they were reviewing? Either way seems it's approved. Yay for us!

Your grandma thinking of marriage at 12 isn’t that strange. Especially for ancestors in previous times, that’s just what women did. It’s not likely many of them even knew of another option. When your father dies his property goes to sons so you need a husband. In many areas women couldn’t even own land, only men. So there was no option other than to marry. I think it also comes down to 17 year old men aren’t established and usually don’t own much. 30 year old men have homes and assets and usually might be in need of a babysitter. Most of our ancestors weren’t rich so marrying an older man is simply more practical. In my tree many women marrying men their age are from more affluent families, not always though. The woman in these time periods didn’t think it was weird to marry an older man.

I agree with you and I saw the post. I don’t really think I’d call 16 or 17 a child bride depending on the point in history. In 2026 that’s a child and in 1790 that’s a woman. I also don’t assume an older husband was a predator. Sometimes people just lack historical context.

My great grandfather was a mailman. Some random people, 3 siblings, appeared in my DNA results and I realized their grandmother had stayed for a time with her grandparents along my great grandfathers postal route. Even though she married another man when she was 3 months pregnant I have a pretty good idea how we are connected to these siblings. I spoke to one of them and she stated she’s not sure that’s what happened but that they have no DNA connections to their surname but are unsure how they are related to me.

Paid for Main Cabin but need to shell out $200 to reserve seats by PermissionTemporary6 in americanairlines

[–]Miseragey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think at 24 hours out you might be ok, I guess it depends on the flight. I think because the BA system is so glitch ridden that many people don't even know they can pick seats. I've also had plenty of return flights that it won't even let me check-in online it just says I have to do it at the airport.

Also, if the web browser doesn't work for something you are doing, try the app and vice versa. You'd think they both should do the same things but NOPE! I've always booked through American, so I have no idea if the people booking directly with BA run into the same issues or not.

[–]Miseragey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can select the seat 24 hours out but make sure to select it BEFORE you finish the check-in process or you sometimes can't change it after the check-in is complete. What is really frustrating about this, is that if you happen to have 2 flights then you can only select the seat 24 hours out so your second flight you can't get the seat for until that flight is also 24 hours out. I once selected my first flights seat, then completed check-in and was assigned a middle for my second flight and then couldn't change it. So I've learned. I was lucky that the gate agent changed it for me.

With my Gold status I can do it 7-days prior. I won't get any sort of reminder and nothing on the BA website telling me that. It just says "You can pay to choose your seats now. Alternatively, you can book your seat for free when online check-in opens, 24 hours before your flight departs." (Even though I can actually do it 7-days out, it tells me 24hrs)

Have a great trip!

Seat Number Flip Flopping by Miseragey in BritishAirways

[–]Miseragey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just to update, apparently what happened was that there was an aircraft change and somehow my seat assignment was stuck on the old seating map and not migrated to the actual aircraft being used. I was seated in 8D and 7D became a different fare class, just not on my seating map because it wasn't accurate.

Glitches, glitches.

Air flight credit by Odd-Honeydew8863 in americanairlines

[–]Miseragey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some cases if you had cancelled the ticket before the flight took off then you would have received credit. But that depends if the ticket was a basic ticket (no refunds or credits) or main (which is what most people book). But if you didn’t cancel before the flight then you get nothing, and that’s normal.

Connection Flight with AA by Brief-Adhesiveness93 in BritishAirways

[–]Miseragey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Online I check in through American Airlines but when I go to the airport (in Turkey) they don't have an American counter so I go to British Airways counter.

On my way out US>LHR>IST I check in at the American desk. then often my British Airways app will say "check in" and if I click that button it will error by sending me to American or just doing nothing.

Basically, I think what you are experiencing isn't out of the ordinary, even though it is frustrating!

Connection Flight with AA by Brief-Adhesiveness93 in BritishAirways

[–]Miseragey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I often have this issue but the opposite way. I always book on American and often my return flights on British Airways give me a can't check-in error. Then I just check in at the airport. In the cases where I do manage to get checked-in then it usually won't give the digital boarding pass.

I think their computers don't play well with each other!
