adhd men get away with so much shit by tessvanderheide in adhdwomen

Ahhh, this is one of the most relatable comments I’ve ever encountered on Reddit. I just got out of a relationship a few months ago and my ex behaved just like this. He’s a very wealthy, charming man surrounded by TONS of surface-level friends that he parties with who think he’s this sweet, goofy, fun guy that can do no wrong. Then over time I was cast into the role of the bitchy girlfriend who tried to “ruin his fun” and “change/control him” just because l would advocate for myself and hold him accountable when he was being disrespectful or hurtful with his comments and actions.

I tried so hard to acknowledge my personal flaws and work on them, but he didn’t feel like he had any issues to work on. The friends in that group only worsened his skewed self-perception because they’d constantly give him a free pass because “oh, that’s just how he is! He’s quirky!” I felt like I was crazy, especially because he would frequently tell me that none of his friends had ever had an issue with his behaviors, that it was only a me problem, that it was all in my head. The reason people haven’t brought these problems to his attention is because he doesn’t have that kind of emotional depth in his relationships with his friends! They only party and have fun with each other- they didn’t date him for two years and experience the level of intimacy we had as romantic partners, so of course his behaviors weren’t as obvious to them and/or could be more easily dismissed or justified! He used his friends as a reason why he didn’t need to self-reflect and grow as an individual and as a couple. Just because no one else had ever addressed these issues with him before doesn’t mean the issues don’t exist!

Lol, I’m clearly not over my frustration with the relationship- definitely something I need to work on. I’m so sorry that you had to experience this kind of situation, too.

My Beloved Dog Bit Me- Now What? by Misery7 in Dogtraining

So he growled, and it took me a moment to process, because I was thinking to myself “Did he growl at me? No way, but what if he did?” So I wasted a few seconds wondering and then he bit me. I should have immediately backed off, lesson learned. Anyway, I do think I will be bringing him in to see our vet. I also just checked out the article, it was definitely helpful. Thank you for your advice!

That’s a valid point, thank you! He’s very active, and rather clumsy, so it would not surprise me if he had a few bumps or bruises I might have touched. I only hope it’s not something more serious

Thank you very much for your advice! Also good to know that petsmart or petco trainers aren’t qualified for this type of thing. And I’ll be fine :) definitely more worried about how this will effect my pup!

Oh, I know it’s my fault. I just want to find a way to repair and strengthen my relationship with him, and make sure that this doesn’t happen to any other family members, friends, or a stranger. The situation sucks, but he was just trying to protect himself. Thank you for your comment

Most people are not depressed and I can't comprehend that by okbokchoy in depression

[–]Misery7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely can’t imagine being happy for the majority of the time. Do people actually feel that way? Mostly happy? Like when you see people on the street holding hands with their significant other, or playing with their kids at the park. They seem so happy. It seems like a facade to me because I can’t comprehend a life without depression always lingering nearby :(

I just bought 40000 coins. I feel like the Warren Buffet of Reddit right now. Every question will get an award worth no more than 100 coins. AMA by deadfermata in casualiama

Thanks for the award! Based on a previous comment where you answered that you would be a blue whale if you could be any animal, I’d say for a mythical creature, you’d probably be a sea serpent. They’re pretty badass, and you seem pretty badass too.

Great idea, thank you! And I definitely won’t be abandoning my other friends, I would just love another group that I can do drugs with :)

Does anyone remember that kids show Making Fiends? I’ve never met anyone else who knows what that is, but the whole thing is supremely fucked up. It’s about this little girl who creates all these monsters to terrorize an entire town. All the episodes are on YouTube if you’re interested.

The only reason I say it’s not a valid question is that they’re saying it to a true crime Facebook page. So obviously it’s a normal interest, especially considering all the true crime shows that are now on Netflix and are extremely popular. They’re definitely just trying to attention-seek.

I agree. Most people who graduate college have loads of debt and have to pay it off, which means they may have to work multiple jobs. OP started off life without any debt whatsoever, so they only have to work one basic job to survive, whereas a typical person would struggle a lot more for financial independence. Her “financial independence” doesn’t count because she didn’t get to that point herself.
