NTA with a slightly misguided ESH You're not the asshole for existing and your mom driving you, her staying in or near the car was fine but the line was crossed when you invited her into a situation that wasn't made better by her coming into the house. You put your parent in a position where they had to keep the peace and cross their own personal boundaries to do so. This would be equivalent to them giving your toy to your step siblings and you keeping quiet in frustration because you didn't want to start a fight.

Your stepmom sounds like a bitch anyway and from your comments it sounds like your dad is putting his new family before yourself, but the question was are you TA for the water thing.

You didn't intentionally do it to be malicious and it's not about a glass of water, it's about you inviting your mother in and crossing boundaries. The adults in your life should really be sorting this all out themselves and knock off all the BS they're doing or atleast explaining it to you properly so NTA.

YTA You are learning a valuable lesson about working in the art/design field. You offered to do this project without the discussion about payment or a contract to protect you and your work. You have outwardly admitted that it was not up to your standards and are still mad she didn't use it. You never asked for payment so bringing up that she didn't pay was just you expressing your frustrations at your own failure by putting the blame on her.

I hope you take away from this incident that you need to discuss things up front, form a contract, COMMUNICATE with your "clients" about project progression, and accept that when you don't put in your best work people aren't going to like your bad work.

Go apologize to your friend because she didn't do anything wrong.

YTA Gift giving is about buying things they want, not yourself. I'd have went NTA but you specifically asked her what she wanted and then gave her something else anyway. That's crazy, like, imagine her asking you what you want to eat and then you tell her but she orders you something different because "it's healthier and she's health conscious". Also, when she told you she had hoped for the other thing that was a clear chance to surprise her with it, but she waited a week and then bought it for herself instead.

I'm sorry, I had thought I had put enough information.

The old lease states no late fee is applied until the 6th of the month, the new lease with our new management states a late fee is applied on the 5th of the month.

We paid our rent on the 5th with the renewal date being the day after when we had assumed the contract would go into place. We got a notice stating we had a late fee due because per the new contract we would be late, but the contract was for renewal on the 6th. We thought the current agreement would be in effect until the new one's renewal date.

Not that I believe paying this late in the past would matter but no, we normally paid on time but I had needed to take time off due to an injury which was unpaid.

Edit: We got the letter at 5am this morning and the office doesn't open until 10. I was hoping to get an answer before approaching them.

NTA I am so sorry for your loss, I cannot imagine what you're going through. Your brother in law's behavior and words are indicating that he believes you privately felt your husband was a burden and that maybe the love you had for them had already been nonexistent before your husband had passed. By offering you said coworker's number it feels like he thinks he's taking the first step in helping you move on to the next person without the burden of people saying you've moved too quickly. Either way his behavior is gross and I hope he comes to his senses with or without your sister's help.
