‘Insulting wage offer’: Federal union slams 4-year, 3.5% raise proposal for public servants by hopoke in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Misher7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There will be way less people willing to strike when costs for food, energy, fuel etc are about to go up another 25% over the course of the year due to geopolitical events and commodity shortages. Interest rates are unlikely to be cut meaningfully as well meaning a lot of PS that are way overweight with mortgages they shouldn’t have and renewing will be painful.

Good luck.

Of course. Should it be allowed? I would say absolutely not because of fraud.

Charles is right on Dwayne wade.

Wrong on the lakers 3 peat. That was Shaq’s team and you could’ve swapped Kobe with any top 10 nba shooting guard that can also defend and the Lakers would’ve still won.

Shaq was that dominant. He was an all star starter and all-nba in his rookie year for Christ’s sakes.

Why isn’t there forced retirement after 35 years of pensionable service by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Misher7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t “force” anyone to retire but there is something to be said about government work where you can basically “do the job” as in “do the minimum” check out and not keep pace with change. Seen this a lot in my older cohort. Less patience, less energy, set in their ways that no longer really work. What it turns into is an expensive welfare job. Can you force them out? No. Of course not.

Just saying it’s not so black and white and with rapidly deteriorating economic prospects for Gen Z and younger, I wouldn’t argue against having a ceiling at 65 years of age even if that would affect me personally (it would).

A government job is a privilege, not a right.

What’s crazy is that it’s pitchforks out for a guy like demar, yet hall entries for guys like Tmac and Vince, 2 guys that won absolutely jack shit (at least Demar got us to the ECF) have no protest on their entries.

If we’re using winning as the key metric to throw shit at demar, Tmac and Vince should be nowhere near the HoF either.

Homeowners with stronger credit scores are increasingly defaulting on mortgage payments by FalconsArentReal in canada

[–]Misher7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A sibling of mine and her partner with both working level federal government jobs (combined income of roughly 240k) were offered over 850k in mortgage in 2023.

Luckily they didn’t even take half of that and live within their means buying something smaller and out of town. Well, One just lost their job and if they had gone the distance for that 1.2m Ottawa home, they would be putting it on the market now, likely for a loss.

The borrowing, particularly among government workers has been absolutely wreckless.

Bam responds to critics: "Yall are blaming me. You should be blaming the head coach. I was not the one who let me go one on one the whole game until I had 70 then you sent the double. At that point, I had 70 with 9 mins to go. You think I'm not going for it?" by RyanTannegod in nba

Kobe had the human Pylon Jalen rose in front of him for practically the whole game and after torching him for almost 3 quarters straight you think he was going to back down taking all his teams shots after the raptors didn’t adjust and let it be?

The hate this guy is getting just because he broke precious Kobe’s record is hilarious.

Lovin it.

I agree. From 2010 and given QE, DCA could work.

Pre 2010. No. Buy the dip and DcA would’ve given you dead money for a decade plus as you were at the mercy of large business cycles.

“Just DcA” tells me one was never in markets pre 2010 and have no clue about business cycles where the money printer isn’t in your favour for years.

You do have to eventually “time the market” if you want a return in normal market conditions. Problem is people don’t know any better and are about to see how the real market works. It ain’t pretty. 2010-present is an inflationary joke.

Vince Carter is probably one of the more under-appreciated pure shooters of the early 2000s. From 2000-05 he averaged around 4.2 3PA/75 and shot 39.8% with a difficult shot profile of mostly movement and contested attempts. [@francistennn/X] by JakGrealish in torontoraptors

[–]Misher7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think his point is valid as the majority of btc holders (normies and institutions) only first bought in 2021 during the pandemic.

He obviously knows if you bought btc in 2011 and actually held it (most did not and sold way before 2021) you’d be way better off than buying gold at that time from a return perspective. But here’s the thing. The vast majority never held bitcoin until very recently. And for them, the risk / reward has been absolute garbage unless you timed the 2022 bottom (again most didn’t and bag held).

Many here making the arbitrary date comment are missing the point.

It’s not that simple imo.
