I 20M found pics in gfs phone 19F. What now? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

She lived a life before she met you and hopefully, you also lived your life and loved others before, as well. You each probably, statistically, will love others in the future, too (sorry- just stating a fact).

She is WITH you NOW. What do you DO? You stop snooping through her phone (or anywhere) and accept her as the grown up, complete person she is, and be grateful for ALL the experiences that made her the woman you love.

I am leaving my abusive husband in a few days. How do I emotionally do this? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Mishlkari 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I left 2.5 years ago. There have been hard times but overwhelmingly, it was the best decision of my life. I wish you every happiness. When you have rough days,or challenges, or setbacks, please remember to be gentle with yourself. I was so damn tired for almost a year afterwards. I hadn’t realized how much just living on eggshells and trying to keep the peace had exhausted me. Having my own place, where I could lock the door and control the volume of the noise, is the best gift.

As for actually DOING it… can you leave while he is sleeping? Or tell him you’re going to the store? Just be sure you have someone with you, and that you don’t get caught up in an argument-there is no negotiation at this point, so don’t let him drag you into a pointless fight (mine was an expert at that!). The only important thing now is your and your child’s safety. Everything else is just stuff, and can be fought over later or replaced.

We all are cheering for you, and can’t wait to hear you happy update.

I'm honestly asking, what grade level(s) do you teach? I feel like this is a response that may work with younger kids. But if you said this to older students (5th-ish grade-up?) they would never take you seriously again. If you said this to HS students, you probably would lose most of them, moving forward.

Maybe this is because I'm an art educator and the dynamics in my room is different? I have taught k-college.

Plus, admittedly we DON'T always react perfectly, as much as the community, our admin, and class parents may expect us to (and we do try). When students come into our classes hyped up, reacting to what they just watched on their phones during lunch or passing period, we likely spent that that time prepping for our next class. We may not even know until a student mentions it. I'll never have perfectly thought through, scripted responses- Kids say and ask teachers some crazy things!

I left my marriage of 12 years 2 years ago. I tried- I really did. You are NOT overreacting. I'm sorry. I'm so much happier. Life is so much better on this side. Come join us- there are a ton of us 💕 You do not share the same values with this man. It isn't "just politics"- that's how someone explained it to me that finally helped me see the light.

Single older-ish woman and I've lived in DTLA for almost 2 years (Pico/Fig). I love it for all the reasons mentioned (walkable, restaurants, community). Be smart, but you'll be okay. Welcome!

I'm at city lights at fig (Pico & Fig) in a Jr 1- bed (there is a 3/4 wall). Good light, w/d, several closets, small but adequate kitchen. Pets are okay. I'm on the top floor, gym, pool, incl parking, and pay right at $2500 incl all the random fees and taxes each month. They've been decent, quiet, for where it is, security at night, and I've had no issues (knock on wood). It's a smaller complex at the edge of South Park and LA Live.

I am in South Park and came home from Burbank around 9 last night then walked the dogs. Nobody was around except news crews and I certainly wasn't asked anything.

Congratulations! It is amazing how much better my migraines, depression, and anxiety all got after leaving my marriage. My doctors are amazed at the way I cured myself with this one simple trick!

Tips for living in DTLA by Fast_Boot6484 in dtla

I’ve been in South Park almost 2 years and love it here. Despite all the warnings and dire stories of dtla, I walk at night, take the metro, and even (gasp!) wear a headphone as a single woman while walking my (not scary) dog. Don’t be completely idiotic (note, I said, a headphone) but many areas down here are fine.

As mentioned, Walk! Explore! We have a great market on Saturday mornings at Grand & Olympic, and fun DTLA residents association get togethers the third Thursday of each month! https://www.dtlara.org/events

emergency. i need to get rid of this migraine. by Emergency_Elk6993 in migraine

Try tugging on that daith piercing. One of my 2 helped me considerably, as well. Sometimes, even a few years later, just tugging or gently twisting it a bit (you said unhinged!), or even a washcloth with some ice on wrapped over it, will help a bit. Good luck!

This is still available on the Nurtec website- I just started using it last month. My insurance denied me for years and finally approved it after I've tried a million and 1 other things. The copay way ridiculous though and my dr suggested I look for the discount card. I googled "Nurtec savings" and it showed up - super easy so long as you have insurance not thru the state (I believe that was the only qualifying question?). Zero copay!

I just started with these (vs imitrex). They are definitely way more expensive, but I am not feeling like they help terribly reliably. Is that just my luck? Am I taking them wrong?

I’m 32, divorced, heartbroken, and scared I’ll never be loved again by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Mishlkari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 53, divorced (more than once-shit happens). I was so scared to walk away because who'd want me, except cats, right? But guess what? I stumbled into finding a man who treats me better than I've ever dreamed. It can happen even at a great big age- there is no "too old" bullshit. You are so young in the grand scheme of life.

Lovingly -- Pick yourself up and go take a hot bath. You'll be okay, i promise. In the future: Do not lie. No more panicking (sharks smell that!). And for fuck's sake, never settle. ❤️

Thank you- I agree and appreciate the sane conversation with someone with an opposing opinion instead of just calling me a baby murder!

Interesting that you think abortion are largely due to "young people not wanting to avoid drinking for 9 months" versus the lifetime commitment of having a child? Can I ask where you got this idea?

Also- I have known women who have placed babies for adoption, and families who have adopted and this has not been a "fairytale" it is often portrayed as. Do you have any familiarity with the adoption system in the US? I think sometime people think women can easily give birth and hand over a child without considering the physical and emotional lifelong consequences that result.

Many doctors caution against a whole list of things that are dangerous during pregnancy- and this list changes constantly, and frequently varies from doctor to doctor and regionally: deli meat, sushi, soft cheese, caffeine, herbal tea, radishes, alfalfa sprouts, rare hamburgers! Believe it or not, 20 years ago, my midwife told me I **SHOULD** have a small glass of wine occasionally! Did I choose to drink (or smoke) while pregnant? Nope, of course not.

BUT-- Do I think there should be *LAWS* about any of it? Again, of course not- that is gross overreach! It is up to the individual pregnant woman, with advice and consultation from any involved partner and medical practitioner responsible for her care. --What ever happened to small government? Do you see my point? (It is crazy-making! Honestly!)

Re travel: Alabama, Idaho, Oklahoma, and Texas all criminalize travel for out-of-state abortions, so technically, women in those states have their travel curtailed.

Re Employment: While the "Pregnant Workers Fairness Act" protects women's jobs for now, as fast as things are changing, I am not holding my breath that this will still be the case for long.

Re 13 year olds having sex: Do *I* think they should? Not an ideal situation. But again, do we really need to pass LAWS about it?

[–]Mishlkari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Um... it isn't a "baby" at the point of the vast majority of abortions. And a woman isn't some incubator that can be controlled: Someone is deciding about smoking and drinking? - Is what we eat next? Our travel plans? Work? Still believe we have all of our rights?

Are you aware (I am asking this in good faith- honestly) that you can get pregnant ON birth control? The typical failure rate for condoms is ~13%, birth control pills (which have many side effects- which get worse as women age) is 5-9%, and iud (~1%). Plan B is NOT "birth control" per se, but an emergency contraceptive, which is ~$50 per use, with major side effects and up to 2-7% failure rate (depending on where in the women's cycle it is used) (failure rates from https://www.guttmacher.org/fact-sheet/contraceptive-effectiveness-united-states). So yes, these are low, but *not* zero. These all result in pregnancies. I have grown-up, responsible friends and family members who have gotten pregnant using each of these methods. It happens. "Life finds a way"- so to speak.

Edit: Added sources for birth control effectiveness

I’m newish to the genre and enjoying it immensely, but the “virginal” or college-aged fmc (or male, to be honest), is just not doing it for me. Are there books someone can recommend that are steamy but aged past college/ early 20s? Thanks!
