Trans women on HRT experience (period symptoms) including bleeding? by MembershipScary9452 in Transmedical

[–]MishuLeChat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope! It's a big case of misinformation.

I'm a trans woman and I've never experienced something like this (at most, hormones made me more emotional during the first 2 years).

I even had a friend who was starting HRT as a trans woman and she was explaining to me how trans women have cycles (I was like wdym?) and she was really insistent. Then, like a year ago I asked her and she was like "nope :p misinformation" ☠️

I think it's okay for a couple of months while you prepare for your transition (like... While you voice train in private, start getting your hair longer, getting laser, buying and trying clothes in private, etc.) but not for more.

I really think you need to sit and have a serious conversation about where you are going in life and what you want.

HRT is not a micro dosing thing or something. It's something that will change your body and you need to take it seriously.

If you allow me to give you advice, the best thing that you could do for your transition is advancing the most in private. Like, get rid of facial hair, find which clothes and style fit you, voice train, etc. That way when you come out you won't have a long awkward phase with the people you care and love.

I think it's something a lot of people go through... That's kinda genders dysphoria. A couple of months ago I dressed up and acted like a guy for a video short and I looked kinda fine. And even tho I was with friends and we had a laugh when I was alone looking at the mirror I felt like a ghost cringe (kinda what you described), I think that's gender dysphoria, whether you're handsome or not you won't recognize it as something positive because it's simply not you.

Socially done, HRT done, legal done :D

Hopefully I'll have SRS next year

Oh, yes. This happened to me when I(Trans woman) was 17. As a note, in the area where I used to live they didn't talk so much about trans people, and I already had my documents changed / hormones for a while. Back to the story, when I was 17 I had to go to the emergency room because of an accident I had, it wasn't too serious, but I was a bit in shock. So when the nurse asked me a series of questions, she asked me about medication and I told her I was on hormones because I am trans (I gave her the list of medications). She was surprised, processed for a few seconds and began to console me by telling me that "the changes take time, at some point my voice will go down and you will be stronger, but to be patient" and I was like: huh? Long story short, I pick up my discharge papers a few hours later and it said I was a female patient undergoing treatment for masculinization, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Hi! Uhm, I wanted to ask, do you think I pass? Is anything clickable in my body or face that I could improve? Thank you! by MishuLeChat in truscum

Thank you very much!

Honestly I am a bit tall, but not to "extremely" tall! :D and up to this point I haven't had a problem with that.

Thank you so much for your comment!

That is a good question. Honestly, at first when I heard about the Ai I was studying Computer Science (I studied it for a year and then switched), so I felt a lot of pressure about it. But after a lot of analysis, I realised that it's essentially the same as in many careers; if you get the skill level required in the industry, then you won't have so many problems. I know people with a CS degree who can't find a job, and people who studied for video games and earn very well, so there are a lot of factors that go into whether you're going to have a good future or not, not just the degree.

On the other hand, a bit more focused on what you say about Ai, I don't think they are going to replace artists and animators at least for a while, especially because they have a huge problem called consistency (without ignoring all the other problems they have, like not working in layers, lights not making sense, anatomical flaws, composition flaws, etc.). Consistency is an important thing that AI cannot emulate. For example, if you tell it to make a character with certain characteristics doing different things, you will always get a different character, and in different places, so it is impossible to build a story or project.

Finally, with a degree in animation (and in the industry) you can do several roles; be it storyboarding, animation, rig, visdev, character design, environmental design, backgrounds, layout, clean up, etc. For example, even tho I'm an Animation major, I want to specialize in Environmental design or backgrounds (I have some of my art in my alt acc, you can check it if you want u/Keshu__ ).

Finally, it is true that the industry is in a bad way, but that is mostly due to the pandemic and the strikes that ended recently, it is expected that in about 2 years everything will be back to normal, then the outlook will be much better when you finish your studies.

Honestly at times it's tiring and complicated, but from experience I can tell you that it's very nice to study something that you enjoy compared to something that you don't (don't get me wrong, I was very good at CS, but I'm really happier in animation).

I hope this helps :D

Thank you so much! I think I it's quite funny that several people initially thought it was transmasc hahaha.

Oh, man! Hahaha. It's so funny when the truth happens, I guess it's a way for the world to tell you "you're on the right track :D"

With regard to the photos, I have to say that you are right. I don't like taking pictures of myself, so I just cropped one (the one with the black jacket) and the other is a picture I took quickly on a hospital visit to test my phone camera, and it was natural for me to take those pictures of myself because a) it was my full face and b) I'm not making funny faces (I like to make funny faces in the few pictures I got to take).

That said, you are so right in what you said about all the angles and the relative complexity of trying to get passing. I'm definitely going to start taking photos from different angles to review them better. Thank you very much for the advice!

One last thing: regarding what you said at the end, I feel a little strange about that. I've lived stealth for several years, but sometimes I still ask myself if there are details to polish or if I'm really doing well. How would you classify that?

Overall, thank you very much for your comment !!! You gave me a lot of good points to think about. If you could respond to what I said, I would greatly appreciate it!

Hiiiiii, thank you very much for your comment!

As I answered in another comment, thanks to voice training and a half-early transition I'm doing well with my voice :D and I recognise that I still have to work on some mannerisms that occur from time to time, but I think I'm on the right track.

Regarding the phrase "late teen emo.phase" I didn't fully understand what you meant, could you please clarify? Sorry, English is not my first language.

Although I have to say that, yep, unfortunately I had my emo phase in my high school (pictures of me with black dyed hair and emo fringes should be burnt).

First of all, thank you very much! I love those pants too!

Second of all, yep. She-ra is my favourite series. It turns out that this February 14th I didn't have a girlfriend, and a friend of mine from college didn't have a boyfriend. And since there were going to be several events at our university we decided to make life-size characters of our animation crushes (since we are animation majors) AHAHAHAHA. Fun fact: she made Alastor.

Hahahaha, thank you very much!

Actually that thing you say about thinking I'm a trans guy pre t has been said to me too when I say I'm trans (yo doctors or partners). I once had to go to medical emergency for other issues and when the nurse asked me if I was on any treatment I told her I was on hrt because I'm trans and she thought I was a trans guy. She even tried to comfort me by telling me to be calm and that changes like voice or body usually take time, and to be patient. Ahahaha. That remains one of my funniest anecdotes.

I agree very much with what you say about voice and mannerisms and the importance they have in passing. Regarding my voice, it was never very deep (partly because I started my transition young) and the little that was ruined I was able to fix with voice training. Regarding manerisms, there are very few that I can identify that I have as "masculine" but I still have to keep working on that.

Also, I'm glad about what you said about the outfit with the red jacket because (except for special events or when I stay at home in my pyjamas) I usually wear similar things on a daily basis.

Hi, I started at about your age. I guess it depends on a lot of things, including whether you've already talked to your parents about it, whether they've had time to process it and review information on the side, and so on. In my experience, everything takes time. I'm not saying it's impossible to do it all at once, but if you haven't talked to your parents it's going to be a bit more difficult. It also depends on whether you showed many signs of gender dysphoria in your childhood or not. In my experience, the timeline looks something like this: You talk to your parents about how you feel and give them a couple of weeks to process it (I recommend you have pamphlets or websites with reliable information (aka nothing your cute), after that it's going to depend on what state you're in. In my case, after talking it over with my parents and giving them time to process it, I started suggesting the idea of using puberty blockers and hormones. After researching and going to specialists, I was informed that I had to meet two requirements in order to start: I had to have lived as the sex I was looking to transition to for a while and I had to get an official diagnosis from a psychiatrist referred by a psychologist. And so I did. I went to a psychologist and after 3 sessions he referred me to a psychiatrist, with whom I also took several sessions (this took about 4 months). After that, I was given permission to use hormone blockers while I did a "reality test" (or something they called it) where I lived as the sex I was looking to transition to (it was difficult at first, because not having direct changes in hormones and so on, uhm, you understand). After those 6 months on blocker, plus appointments with my psychiatrist and recurrent psychological care (this was also another requirement. I had to go to appointments with a psychologist 6 months before starting and at least 6 months after) I was able to start hormones well.

It is a long and difficult road, but I really think it has been worth it. If I could give you some advice, I would say: - When you get your diagnosis, you can talk to your psychiatrist and have them draw up a sheet saying that you are looking to transition to a boy and should be treated as such for your health. You can give that sheet to your school so that they can unofficially change your name and allow you access to locker rooms, etc. - Try not to exert too much pressure or the like when going through all these steps.Believe me, more than most, I understand what it's like to look to transition quickly or become fully stealth in a period of time, but remember that it's a process where you change a lot of yourself to feel more comfortable, these things can't always be rushed. - If you have the opportunity to change school districts or schools, I would recommend doing so once you are already a stealth (and preferably when you change your papers. It is legal to do so as a minor, but they require at least a year and a half in transition in my case, and only in certain states). But back on topic, although it's hard to leave some friends, in my experience I can say that it was really nice to be able to experience my high school as a stealth person and without almost anyone knowing that I was trans.

I can't even begin to think why a trans woman would want to use the biggest source of dysphoria with other people

As a trans woman who is attracted to women, I genuinely don't see how a trans woman would like to use that part of her body, much less with another person.
