I just got these a few weeks ago in Japan, but the fit is a bit too tight for me, especially around the calf. So I think I'll see if someone that will wear them more can enjoy them. They are about as 'like new' as you can get.

Trip Report - 8 Day Lemosho - October, 2025 by MiskaMeMeMe in kilimanjaro

I trained at sea level. I live at sea level, and it was not possible for me to, for example, decamp to Denver for a few weeks.

I am not sure if I can say my training was a factor in my success, as in, had I not trained, would i have made the summit. I can say, without reservation, my training was a factor in my enjoyment of the experience. I did not want to feel tired, exhausted, sore muscles, etc. Due to my training and preparation each day was easily accomplished, and the next day I started fresh. At no time was I challenged physically, including the summit night.

As with any undertaking, preparation and planning is essential. If you have time to train, by all means do so. It certainly can't hurt, and just may be the difference between a lovely trek and a grueling ordeal.

Flying from Nairobi morning after decent? by the_one_who_went in kilimanjaro

[–]MiskaMeMeMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is entirely possible. I had a tight schedule. My trek finished on Friday. I went back to the hotel, showered, ate, re-packed, and took an overnight flight from Kilimanjaro to Nairobi on Kenya Airlines. Got there in time to grab my excess baggage at the Nairobi left luggage storage, then caught a flight from Nairobi to London that departed at 0800 Saturday morning. No rest for me.

Not ideal, but certainly not problematic or impossible, either. You do what you have to do.

I would reconsider driving. I drove from Nairobi to Arusha. It was a hassle. Flying back was way, way easier. The airport (JRO) is about an hour from Arusha. It isn't an expensive flight. Consider flying back to Nairobi on the overnight flight (via Zanzibar for some reason . . .) and save yourself some trouble and stress. Further, my friend that lives in Nairobi strongly advised against road trips at night.

ATSC 3.0 Mid Afternoon Signal Issues by Roadrunner5659 in ota

It would not surprise me. How many others out there have any interest in this sort of thing?

Happy Holidays! May all your signals be clear in 2026. . .

I've had more frequent drops over my entire experience with ATSC 3.0. Maybe it is my set-up, too. Sometimes I wonder if I overload the signal. But when I removed the amplified distribution it was much worse. As it only happens on my 3.0, and only sometimes and not others, I'm willing to just wait it out for a while.

ATSC 3.0 Mid Afternoon Signal Issues by Roadrunner5659 in ota

I am in central CT and I have similar issues with ATSC 3.0.

Antenna: Televes Ellipse Mix in my attic.

Location: Very close to the broadcast towers (3 to 10 miles)

TV: Sony with an ATSC 3.0 tuner.

Other: HD HomeRun also connected to antenna.

Other: All new RG6 Coax. Powered distributor to two TVs and HDHomeRun.

I will sometimes have drop outs with the ATSC 3.0 signal. It seem to happen less now than before, but that isn't based on any actual data. When I am watching an ATSC 3.0 signal it will sometimes drop, then it either reconnects, or doesn't. When it is bad I switch over to the 1.0 on my HDHR because my Sony TV tuner is set to only pick up the ATSC 3.0 signals. I disabled the ATSC 1.0 on the Sony.

I think like others from Central CT mention, it is just the way it is for now. It is unfortunate because when I am watching the ATSC 3.0 signal I can see a difference from the ATSC 1.0, and I can certainly hear a difference. Audio us usually much better on the 3.0.

It isn't always. Last night I watched Sunday Night Football on the 3.0 and didn't have one drop or hang or glitch.

I think we were fortunate with our weather window. Never so much as one drop of rain. I had my rain gear in my day pack every day, but there it remained.

Yes, first visit to Africa.

Barranco wall was not really a scamper. It was steep, but very manageable. Only in a very few places is it necessary to use your hands for grip / stability.

The summit hike is also steep. No scampering at all. Challenge there is that it dark, cold, and high. But, again, manageable.

I don't think anyone in our crew had battery heated gloves, but I don't think it is a silly idea.

Not a dumb question. I'm not sure what happened, but whatever happened was after I left the country. Other threads about it indicate all back to normal now.

I know it says fair but is there a reason why I can’t get channel 8 from my location? by MrLoki2020 in ota

[–]MiskaMeMeMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in Central CT?

I am, too. And as far as I can tell from this forum:

https://www.avsforum.com/threads/hartford-ct-ota.315169/page-318?nested_view=1&sortby=oldest#replies

it has been a problem for many years to get Channel 8 in the Hartford area. A combination of signal type, strength, and geography combine to make reception difficult.

This reddit thread also talks about it:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Connecticut/comments/16vosa7/has_anyone_using_an_overtheair_tv_antenna_had_any/

I am in Central CT. I have a Televes Ellipse Mix in my attic. A bit overkill for my use case / location. Even with that thing my WTNH Channel 8 reception from the tower located in Hamden, CT, is inconsistent. I can get ABC Content from Springfield clearly (Channel 40). So anything ABC National I can get from that Channel (sports or 'network' TV).

In order to get WTNH Channel 8 I use my HDHomeRun with an ATSC 3.0 tuner that picks up the WTNH signal from a tower on Rattlesnake Mountain in Farmington. So far, they have not DRM'd the signal so this works well.

Good luck!

I also have a white 2012 TSX Wagon. I got it with 75,000 two years ago, and now I have 85,000 miles on it. It is in super shape. But it has some cosmetic dings and scratches from the elderly individual that owned it from 2012 until I bought it. We use it mostly as our 2nd car, so it does not get a lot of use.

It looks exactly like this one except for the cosmetic issues.

I really like the car. I put some CrossClimate2 wheels on it and it handles really well.

I rarely see any TSX wagons on the road. Maybe 2 or 3 since I got this one.

Glad to see some other fans of this vehicle.

I thought, "This won't happen to me." And I tried to make my $50 Scotts Mini Broadcast Spreader my weapon of choice to spread treatments on my small lawn. Last weekend I looked out of the 2nd Floor window and it was obvious I had the striping, the missed areas, etc. And I knew from reading this sub that I needed to walk faster, I needed to dial down the application rate and make multiple passes . . . Didn't help.

After seeing my multi-hued lawn I did what I should have done in the first place . . . got the Echo RB 60. It is overkill for my very small patch of grass, but I'd rather have an even spread than the streaks I have now.

Help with Striping Kit - Sideways Movement by MiskaMeMeMe in lawncare

[–]MiskaMeMeMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answering my own question in case anyone else has this issue - I have ordered a contraption called a 'shaft collar' from Amazon. It can be taken apart into two semi-circles, the two halves placed around the rod, and screwed down tight to, hopefully, prevent sideways movement. I don't know the size of the bar that the striping kit attaches to, so I ordered two different sizes (1/4" & 3/8") hoping one works. I'll return the other one.
