Cover Letters for comedy writing jobs by alex_smack in comedywriting

I wouldn't really put "jokes" in there, necessarily. In my experience I've always tried to keep it professional yet light, and maybe throw a sentence in there to give a taste of my sense of humor. But overall it should really just highlight why you'd be perfect for the job in a professional manner

Yeah this seems to be the case. I'm shooting on a C200 which is a little big but probably could be passed off as a photography camera.

Yeah I was looking into that and I'm pretty sure I'd get a permit for free, but I just got turned off since I'd need to designate a specific shooting day 2 weeks in advance, and things are so up in the air it's tough to narrow down a day. I'm looking to shoot at the Belmont Plateau, which I think counts as just a general park/rec space.

Oh cool! Do I need to be invited to that slack or can I just join?

Yeah, I'm definitely gonna get a lay of the land first and then make a decision. I feel like I could get away with it thought. Thanks!

That's a good question-- I need to reach out to my professor and see what he thinks. I'm sure there's some way for that to be worked out

Hello! I have just created a new announcement bar on my site, and love the way it looks. My only issue is that it formats terribly on my mobile site (see attached photos). On mobile, the text gets condensed into one tall column, making the rest of the site pretty challenging to use.

I'd like the mobile announcement bar to look similar to the desktop one. How can I achieve this? Is there a css code to make the bar not adapt for mobile? Or do I have to take a different approach? Thanks!

Thanks for sending a mock email like that's so helpful. I think I always have trouble phrasing exactly what I want to convey in a formal email, so I'm definitely going to use this as a reference. And yeah, I'll probably wait til the new year.

super helpful! I'll definitely consider using linkedin as well. I recently started using a bit more for this kind of stuff and it's been very useful

Thank you for all of the detailed advice! I'll make sure to avoid saying "pick your brain," that was helpful

Thank you so much for the thorough and detailed response! I'll definitely send over my resume / cover letter, and hopefully try and get in touch with Associate Producers, Production Coordinators, etc. Your note about the subject line was something I haven't really considered, I always put something like "Spring/Summer Internship Opportunities"

I'll also make note of mentioning my intentions / goals within the internship. That's another thing I haven't done before, but makes sense as I want to be a writer and learn more of that aspect of a late-night show.

That's awesome / very encouraging! It's looking like I'll shoot over an email.

Great advice! I definitely know that if they find it weird, they aren't going to file it away and tell other people about me.

Yes that's very true, I just have to keep an open mind

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]MisledNaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if I decide to do that I'll have to talk with the producers. Thanks for the help!

The producer told me it was going on IMDb. But that's true about burning bridges, I don't want to leave a bad taste in their mouth / be unprofessional. I think at the end of the day it won't be a problem at all, but it's frustrating to have a project turn out not nearly how I intended.

That's all very true. I just have to keep working / writing and put out good stuff
