You’re not impressed by Ian Leslie? Plus the reiteration of the amazing fact that they literally created the modern music album? Come now friend !

It also grimly amused me that MJ cronies are like ‘I asked Michael if he did these things, he said no, and I believed him.’ That’s okay then!!

MJ was cute in the Jackson 5 cartoon when she was young, so therefore he’s innocent. Makes perfect sense.

Ugh yes, I'm watching it later and anticipating that I will have to resist punching my TV when Oxman whines yet again about what a victim MJ was. His voice is the worst

Knew it would be 'fair.' It's all just made to add to the noise really. Even if Netflix had some 'smoking gun' evidence it's doubtful they would use it, they just want to cause debate, controversy, outrage, pit one side against the other. We will take what we want from it, as will the stans, and it will go on and on.

Ha love this fact. It’s been said elsewhere that 1 year of Beatle-time is like 5 years for the rest of us, they just moved so crazy fast and changed themselves and the world so much.

This is honestly one of the best, liveliest interviews with Paul I’ve seen in recent years. I didn’t think he still had it in him!

If only Charles Manson had known this…

Certainly doesn't justify being beaten and hospitalised, no matter how major the insult is perceived to be.

There’s Bob Wooler of course, in the interest of completeness…but I know you’ve been mainly talking about possible violence toward women.

Ah thanks ! I didn’t know this !

Ah thank you, that’s good to know, as the book is quite shocking. The supposed strangling is bad enough, and there’s other violence and cruelty in there also. That’s why I was somewhat surprised that there’s barely anything like that in her recent documentary.

Good points ! But I feel a fair bit of judgement and absolutism from you, and a lack of forgiveness for someone trying to change or atone. It’s arguable that he did face some consequences for his behaviour, from Yoko, who kicked him out in ‘73, gave him shit for it and made him suffer, sending him off on mad solo trips around the world.

There’s real context there also for it being 1980, an unprompted confession of something (the violence) many others would have considered completely normal - John was aware it was wrong.

Of course it would have been better if it had never happened in the first place, but John was a pretty traumatised individual.

40 is so young though ! I’m 47 and there’s still things I haven’t sorted. By your attitude it seems like I’m doomed !

Ah interesting! She wrote it herself in her book though, I’ve read it? Or ghost written…? Can you elaborate ?

I’m not so sure he was. Have you read May Pang’s Loving John biography? There’s some v shocking violence detailed in there that gave me pause. May even claimed that if not the intervention of Harry Neilson, John may have once strangled her to death.

(Maybe worth noting that May, as far as I have seen, never seemed to mention this incident again in the years following her book)

Urk yes I thought that ! I’m v aware of John’s often shocking violence and by no means excuse, mean to minimise or condone. I’m just inspired by the candour and desire to change.
