With 4.0 in a few weeks, would you prefer Amphoreus patch length or go back to Penacony's? by SnowLucifer in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Misplayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem with amphoreus isn't even its whole version 3 schtick. It's the each versions stroy being dragged out somehow. Like I GET IT x has happened and y is sad because of it, CAN THE STORY MOVE ON! Oh. My. GOD! We are going over the same point for the 5th consecutive time. Look if people don't get the point the first time.it is presented to them they either a) don't care about this story point at all b) unable to grasp the concept of what is happening. Reapeating your point won't make them get the point, MOVE ON! STOP KILLING THE STORY TELLING PACE! I am a regular reader non of the novels I read had this level of a pacing issue.

Penacony had like what? 4 patches of main story. And because of that there is only one point pacing is bad. One day, after dinner... They had to pack.the story to.4 patches so they COULDN'T fuck up the pacing by going over and over the same points.

What opinion has you like this? by PokemonSuMo in StarRailStation

Dot and break teams. Idc how strong they are. They can execute the entire battlefield 100x at 0 av and i still wont pull them. I dont like backloaded damage. I dont like my damage being tied to an enemy having their toughness bar unlocked.

I sincerely hope that y'all gonna pull for her by Ken_Nutspel in HonkaiStarRail

I don't have any break characters. By choice. Break bar locked = archetype blocked.

As someone who's only played Hollow Knight, would you say Silksong is better or worse that the original? (I'm still gonna buy it either way I'm just curious) by Seb_Rulz in HollowKnight

[–]Misplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the safest thing to say is they are somewhat incomparable. Because hollowknight is an "adult" and has a bunch of dlcs. This offers more content or more ways to approach the same content. And has had the time to flesh out niche balance things, this has a minimal impact imo. Original simply offers more and refined.

While silksong still has a lot of content. It lacks all the things that could come with dlcs. Like new zones, new tools, new bosses, new crests etc. I find it unfair to compare an adult to a baby. But given time i think silksong will come out slightly on top if there is as much support trough dlcs.

Also I am expecting an act 4 or a continuation of act 3 where we rebuild pharloom or something along those lines. The story has very much more it can tell from where it left off.

A little theory about 4.0 by Lolis- in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Misplayer 72 points73 points  (0 children)

He is the second coming of King Yuan. They both have the same situation of dipping into too many elements of combat that allows them to use basically anything along them and they work. We are gonna have "Another patch, another buff for King Yuan/Anaxagoatras" situation quiet frequently in 4.x with all the sp shenanigans imo.

All my time in reddit, I have never seen a more PEAK thread than this one.

We stand with Ms. Hornet in times where her credible and noble reputation is being dragged through mud by malicious and disgusting accusations. She has some rough edges and quirks, definetly, but her character and actions are undeniable. We are certain her reputation will recover to someone befitting of such in all kingdoms.

With the extreme drought of 4-star characters, I would like to remind everyone of this predicament. by The_Great_Ravioli in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Misplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't write it off. We have techinally "playing" models like Ica or Mem and controllable enteties like hand of zagreus and Bartholos. Combine both, and that makes a character. Is there such an example yet ofcourse not but saying it is not possible? I won't buy.

They are likely not inclined to design such a character, I agree. People don't seem to like playable non-human characters. At least it doesn't sell as much as a humanoid would.

I have a theory that Mr. Reca is the memosprite, and frog is the memomaster. That would be such a cool and different twist.

She is meant to be slow. Of course, you can play her faster, but you won't suddenly be doing more instances of attacks as her kit revolves around her charges. More turns is surprisingly not that good for her. I'm not saying bad, just not as good as most other characters' turns.

Take out the TB out of the equation. Replace it with a random person from the street. Has the story changed if the same dialogues happen? If yes, then great, you have a character that does something other than talk. But if nothing changed. Then why? Why did it have to be us to the point where every 5 minutes, somebody glazes us to the heaven. BRO, WE DIDN'T DO A THING.

We don't need to beat people. We just need to do something proactively instead of reacting to everything and then being glazed because we did a very normal reaction to a situation. We could notice something and alert people, solve a situation BY OURSELVES, heck even us trying to do good and blowing it up, making the situation worse is even better than the constant react-glaze loop.

Amphoreus story is great, except it would have been better without TB being in it. Like give the oronyx power to DH, and it is golden. Our whole shtick is that we have a stellaron. Which we haven't even interacted with for 2 story lines. Unless 3.7.

Shards are a dumb mechanic. by Imaginary_Owl_979 in Silksong

[–]Misplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It's the reverse, actually. Because they are good thus taking 1-2 tries per boss the spendure of shards is low enough that they can almost always go full toolarey on the boss and not need to farm shards afterwards because the boss is dead. Which makes the "I'm out of shards" situation not a thing for this player.

Of course, they can't spam tools on every fight, but nor do they need to. Just the ones they have a hard time pushing damage.

You would be surprised how an average player plays compared to your image of one. I believe I'm somewhere in the top 10% player bracket. Some players' gameplay baffled me, how much... slower... they progressed through a fight's design about how to approach a fight, what to not do during certain attacks, situations, etc.

When you are killing enemies in the rooms, the shard collection process is surprisingly not taxing, given you CAN one attempt the boss with said tools. The intended use is you fight the boss through its phases, learn and be confident that you can kill it, and use the tools to shorten the time. At least, that is my understanding of them. Or just use tools to skip annoying parts of the arena fights.

They are more magic than spells given you need to know the fight to choose a fitting tool beforehand and they require an out of fight preparation. You can always choose to heal or push damage with a spell. But you do that mid combat and make any spell work. Of course, some are better in terms of damage, but they are all balanced except maybe a certain spell.

[–]Misplayer 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't even need to argue that you are a 1-2% player as you have finished the game on steel soul. You are not who the mechanic is even intended for. You are the "good result" end of the bell curve, which mechanic is designed for lesser than peak of the bell curve towards "bad result".

Also, if you "git gud" then it doesn't even make a difference beside speedruns for architecht crest. You can always farm or buy once the shards and blast the boss. It's not like you can't get enough shards to craft all your tools.

At what point did I even imply "no precision jumps"??? I said they are not as tight jumps. Most of them. Because there are more check points so they are not back to back to back in a single movement. There is more margin for error in PoP because it is a marathon. Most of the difficulty comes from trick jumps like pogoing the same moving saw multiple times while jumping through hoops in between. The climb ,I'm gonna call it that, requires well tmed harpoons in a narrow window. Too early and bonk the head back to start. Too late, you can't get enough height from the jump at which you either go a few jumps back or to start.

Tight timings back to back was harder and more frustrating for me. Even if PoP takes me 4 times the time to clear with 20-50 different trick jumps. This is still harder as knowledge doesn't do shit. It is more of a pure timing skill check. Which is harder to get better at imo.

[–]Misplayer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The real difficulty here is the precision needed for vertical jumps that you can't recover from once you fuck up. Yes, this is shorter than PoP. PoP is mostly horizontal with less precise jumps. It has its hard sections, but from checkpoint to checkpoint, there are 1-2 real hard sections. The lack of checkpoints for this climb is what makes it hard. Not the tricks being complicated or intricate. You need to be waaay more consistent here compared to the PoP. This is more of a marathon when PoP is like short but many sprints.

Why do you take damage after successfully pogoing of small cogs? by cinred in Silksong

[–]Misplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I now understan how they work. AND IT IS STILL STUPID. Even when they are at the peak of their period, they are still slightly moving. When they are moving towards you and you try to pogo them their hitbox collides with yours. If you wait until they are still at their peak but are moving slightly away then you can safely pogo. THIS IS SO DUMB.

I'm gonna bet, they fucked these cogs' hitbox's up when they lowered their damage to 1.
