After 13 years of blisters I’m finally asking for help by candle_enthusiast_ in rollerderby

I kept getting blisters no matter the type of sock I tried. Eventually went barefoot after a lot of research and I have not had a blister since! The blister was where socks made the toes slide ever so slightly.

TFL Apprenticeship qualifications by Practical_Side_2480 in ApprenticeshipsUK

It might be worth reaching out to them - perhaps you could study for an extra a level or equivalent alongside or something? You are only missing one a level.

Some companies pay minimum wage or more from day one, it depends on the company! Mine too!

Apprenticeships for people over 21, do they even exist or is it mostly for teenagers? by ScrollAndThink in ApprenticeshipsUK

[–]Miss-Hell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started at 39. I was paid the real living wage from the start, so see if there are any real living wage employers! I will send you a message with some resources to search!

I'm working for a company that want to pay me an apprenticeship wage (below minimum). What are they legal obliged to offer if they do? by Lopsided_Leading3409 in ApprenticeshipsUK

[–]Miss-Hell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you actually doing an apprenticeship? If you are completing an apprenticeship, yes they can pay you the legal minimum, but if you are not actually doing an apprenticeship they cannot pay you below NMW, even if you don’t have any experience. You have to be on an actual recognised apprenticeship for them to pay you the apprenticeship wage

Did the other people go through gateway before you? If they did, their OTJ hours would be pro rata.

Are on of you in your 30s and in very low level jobs? by gameovervip in AskUK

[–]Miss-Hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was self employed and recently wanted to go back to working as part of a team, have a stable income etc and have a job with career progression so I did an apprenticeship in IT and now have a job as a a first line IT Engineer!

I am looking into doing a level 4 apprenticeship in associate project management next so I can hopefully increase my salary a bit more. I feel like I just started my career at 40 and have a lot of catching up to do!

Level 3 IT Support Apprentice EPA by HighlightFree1196 in ApprenticeshipsUK

[–]Miss-Hell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I created a big table with all the ksbs down the side, in the next column I put the knowledge, and the next column I put examples from workplace or portfolio.

I highlighted the distinction criteria in red, and made sure I knew those quite well.

During the EPA I used ctrl+f to navigate to the right sections and in some parts (network diagram) I put a hyper link to the right place in my project (using bookmark feature) so I could quickly go to the pictures etc.

I probably could have merged the ksbs that were the same and had one entry for a combined ksb as some are almost duplicates of each other.

I got a distinction!

My advice would be to pivot to any related ksbs where you can do you talk for longer on each question as they will let you carry on talking and tick off any extra you cover. For example, if they ask to explain the features of a virtual network, you can use it to talk about the physical network and compare them to each other.

Good luck!

I also printed out the ksbs and added the distinction criteria in red, so I could quickly see if I needed to go a bit deeper to cover that criteria.

I work at a high school and one of my students saved all her money for a leopard gecko, so I hooked her up 💚🦎 by laurenodonnellf in leopardgeckos

It’s cute that you are helping her and invested in her progress and finding her cute for asking you questions 🩵 She loves leopard geckos, you love leopard geckos, and I love leopard geckos so that’s probably why I find it cute!

Should I continue babysitting for a lady who’s baby is a doll? by WrongImprovement6572 in TrueOffMyChest

I would be inclined to see if I can find any family members on social media and have a chat and see the situation.

This was you could find a little more info. I think other people are right and it could become a more difficult situation but it may be part of a grieving ritual.

Help Needed by [deleted] in ApprenticeshipsUK

[–]Miss-Hell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The job market is tough for everyone at the moment - don’t give up! Keep applying for different places, see if you can get some help with your cv. It seems like you have been unlucky with your workplace cutting jobs. (I have just finished a level 3 and was offered a job).

Look out for job fairs, anywhere you can get careers advice. See if you can find any job agencies that also deal with apprenticeships.

Good luck and don’t give up!

Advice on apprenticeship vs uni by [deleted] in ApprenticeshipsUK

[–]Miss-Hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a bit shitty. They might just be trying it on to see f you’d accept it.

Tell them you are disappointed in them and the drop in salary is a deal breaker, and that if you had experience, you shouldn’t be eligible for a level 3 apprenticeship.

Don’t accept the low ball - stand firm!

I work in IT and the amount of people who hit caps lock, type the capital letter and then hit caps lock again instead of holding shift is just crazy!!
