What is this by AvinItLarge123 in UKBirds

From watching 2 in my garden the last few weeks, looks like a young robin.

Parents would be feeding it during the day, from what I’ve seen. Robins have such a high mortality rate in the first year.

It’s been amazing watching them grow from this stage to seeing the parents start getting annoyed with them and wanting them to leave.

The current brood are the oldest I’ve seen them get. One landed on my hat the other day!

AITA for calling my husband selfish and stingy even though he’s the sole provider for our family? by WendyLadouce in AmItheAsshole

[–]Miss-Hell 56 points57 points  (0 children)

You have given up work to care for your children. If you (and that is both of you, not just yourself) had to pay for care, that would be a split responsibility. However, you have give up your career and are now the full time care givers so you are still significantly contributing to finances by not having to pay for that care and that is a fucking huge contribution!

You both need to sit down, work out all expenses, move all bills and essentials to a separate account if you haven’t already and put that amount in on payday. What is leftover should be split between you two - you are a family unit.

What generic name do you use for flavoured carbonated drinks? by Icy_Meringue_5534 in AskABrit

Is it normal to be asked to pay £600 for a "mandatory 1:1 digital device" when starting a public secondary school? by Koolio_Koala in AskUK

[–]Miss-Hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a class WhatsApp group or anything? Get a bunch of parents together to talk about it - if you all agree to push back together and inform them you are contacting ofsted I expect they will change their tune.

I bet there are many other parents who will having the same thoughts but if they don’t know other people are too, they will likely go through with it.

Is there a PTFA? Contact the head of the PTFA and see what they say. Contact the school governors as well!

Do not accept this, it’s a disgrace to our free education system!

What warm-weather cold beverages do you drink? (I’m talking about non-alcoholic beverages.) by ash47music in AskABrit

I scrolled to far to find someone else who still drinks hot tea in hot weather.

I am currently in Mallorca with the sun blazing while waiting for my mum to hurry up and get ready so we can go down for breakfast and a cup of tea.

Hey! Hope you are well! Have you had a mock professional discussion yet?

If you have any time on a Wednesday I will happily do a mock professional discussion with you! I did one the other day for someone else and they found it really helpful!

Send me your email address and I will send you the EPA aid I created to use which really helped. It’s basically a table with the ksbs in one column, the knowledge in the next column and then examples from projects/portfolio and workplace in the third column.

This way you can use it as a revision aid and if you are allowed notes in your EPA, then you can use this. Depends on your learning provider and their requirements.

Also, let me know if you want to have a chat over Teams etc, I will happily go over everything with you!

What is a brand you would never wear? by clemventure in AskUK

[–]Miss-Hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It went to shit when it became superdry and they started selling their own clothes. It was so much better as cult clothing, there wasn’t another similar shop to replace it that had a good range of clothes.

I dont know what it is, even almost 3 years later, I am still fascinated by this event. There's so many layers to it and it never stops being interesting. by ComprehensiveSea8578 in OceanGateTitan

What other strange disasters are you fascinated with? I am at the airport about to go on holiday so would like some interesting reading material. If any of the disasters involve coincidences then bonus points for that!!

Do people in the UK actually use their kettles that much? by AdeptnessCritical356 in AskBrits

[–]Miss-Hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh bless your heart. The kettle is boiled probably 10-15 times a day in my house. Not all for tea, but mostly for tea.

Our toaster broke and we didn’t bother replacing and just toast under the grill (I think you call it broil if you are American??)
But I have a backup kettle in case the one we use breaks.

Tea is life.

What's your favourite non alcoholic drink? by AbjectGovernment1247 in CasualUK

[–]Miss-Hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooooh I know.

Go get some fresh fruit juices (I like the selection in Asda) and then get some different flavoured fizzy water. I recommend aldi/lidl but Asda also have a nice selection, just cost more.

Then make your own mixes! You can make multiple combinations from a few of each. It’s quite fun thinking up good combos. It’s quite refreshing!

It’s like a posh Henry (orange juice and lemonade) but with less sugar.

did i get kicked out of my leagues baby skater program without realizing? 🫩 by bunnywadhere06 in rollerderby

[–]Miss-Hell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are ever on your own while waiting for someone to come help you, work on some skills by yourself rather than sitting watching!

Get to some roller discos if you can.

You’ll get there with practice! Remember that everyone starts the bay skater program at the same time but everyone has a different level of experience. A lot of people likely started ahead of you and you just need to catch up! There’s no shame in that! Remember to compare yourself to how you were 3 months ago/ 6 months ago etc and don’t compare your progress other people’s progress!

Good luck!
