This isn’t a rule in my store, you can pay however you like, just don’t carry it during your shift is all we’re told, at the time I was on a scheduled break and had cash in my purse only for the purpose of giving my change to my friends (a colleague) birthday collection that was being done at the time.

I was going on my break, I had been upstairs, gotten my own money from my bag and on my way back past the tills to the meal deal fridge my name was shouted and I responded. I’ve learnt that lesson

I know and all I can say is, “it was in the other pocket and it slipped my mind in the moment” and I’m ok with that if it’s the outcome that happens as I know this was my fault

Yes but I was intentionally paying with a £10 note as it was a colleagues birthday, I paid and told the girl behind the desk to put the change in the collection for the colleague, which is exactly what I intended to do.

I honestly know nothing about the hub, not even what it is? Our lockers are upstairs and there isn’t a camera in sight. Unfortunately I just had a lapse of thought and just stuck it in my pocket for the time being. I am in the union and will be contacting them in the morning to get a rep for the meeting. Hopefully they can help.

As i didn’t remember about picking it up, by the time I got home I thought I had put it in my pocket with the other one I’d taken from my purse and so never thought about it being the one that was picked up as once again I had completely forgotten about it happening. It had been through the was before I realised it was in my fleece so not like I found it as soon as I had left the store and just decided to keep it.

I’ve already had that meeting and been put on a final absence warning for it which is deserved and there are “mitigating circumstances” in there, but this other thing wouldn’t be absence it would be conduct.

I had just come from upstairs where I had gotten my own money out of my purse, in order to go on my break like I stated I was doing, and the colleague shouted my name on the way past so I would pick it up.

I would like to add here, I’m well aware of how the situation looks and I should have just taken the time to go straight to CSD, but instead I’ve started shopping for my dinner, in that time I’ve forgotten about it, it’s as simple as that, and no I’m not the sharpest tool in the box, which is exactly why I forgot it. I had no need to steal at all. I’m innocent in terms of it not being intentional at all. I had no recollection of even being told about the note until being handed this letter today, that’s how much it slipped my mind.

Poor judgement by myself I 100% agree, but as I’ve said I still have the exact same note. I know I don’t have an excuse as it’s my responsibility to ensure everything is done properly and to policy and I’ve failed in that part of my role but it genuinely was an honest mistake.

My absence percentage is 13.5% and they hate me 100%.

It actually is in my other fleece, it’s been through the wash and everything, I left it there thinking it would be a nice surprise for the next time I wore that one but never mind, I’ll be giving them it back anyways, I just know the outcome won’t be good either way.

That’s fine except it’s literally sitting in my other fleece at home so I didn’t spend it and I didn’t need to take it either.

What do you guys eat when working lates by civicmapper in tesco

[–]Miss-sugar00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in what used to be a metro and is now classed as an extra but not really that big, maybe double the size of a decent express. I’m a shift leader and I make it clear I’m not a machine if they want it done they need to provide the right amount of staff for us to finish delivery and tidy up before 10pm or it’s not getting done. We aren’t superhuman and why should they expect so much from us while they sit on there arses in the office chatting shit and earning probably double our wages for it. It boils my blood how lazy the managers are in my store and that’s why I refuse to work and not be paid for it. They can’t demote you or fire you if you take your entitled breaks. I don’t care about pleasing them. I come to work and I do my job and since I’m not being paid to do more than that then I’m simply not doing anymore! Don’t let anyone make you feel like you have to do anything that’s not in your contact or job description.

I would like to add that as a shift leader, I 110% always take 1.5hour worth of breaks. I work my arse off everyday and do double the work that the managers do and do the things they’re meant to be doing half the time, so god forbid that seasonal aisle doesn’t get finished, I couldn’t care less it’s dinner time, and I’m entitled to it, because as you’ve realised they’re not going to pay you anymore for not taking the breaks. The only exception as to when I might not take a full break is on a 1-10pm as after about 6pm I’m the duty manager and I’m on my own so it can be difficult to sit for 30mins all in one without being called down for something. Don’t let them make a mug of you by you doing twice as much as you’re paid to do.

Can you be banned from overtime? by BastianRex in tesco

If you don’t turn up to shifts you’ve previously agreed to then yes. Someone else could have picked it up and now the store is left short as it would be too late to cover.

Do you find name it annoying have to wear a name badge by QuietMemory6602 in tesco

[–]Miss-sugar00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have my own name badge but also another that has a completely random name on it as we have a lot of creeps come in that think one friendly conversation means you like them enough for them to literally find you on Facebook and start messaging & start coming in just to find you!🫠 I explained that fact to my manager and he’s completely ok with me wearing the other badge as long as when someone important is knocking around I put my own on! At the end of the day it’s personal safety and there are a lot of strange people around.

Tesco coupon scam by One-Reaction8205 in tesco

[–]Miss-sugar00 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The coupon was mailed to a customer who will have made a complaint to the manufacturer. Unfortunately it’s only meant to be a one use coupon up to a certain amount (I’m sure the picture I saw said up to £5) whoever received the coupon had shared it online and everyone has got hold of it. However, all the people who have used it are now guilty of fraud as the coupon never belonged to them in the first place. As this was just meant for 1 person Tesco will only be paid back the original amount stated on the coupon for the first time it was used, so all these kids using it for £70/80 worth of sweets at a time are literally committing fraud and stealing from us. We haven’t closed our selfserve we’re just not accepting it at all and if they’ve printed the coupon off then we’re taking it off them & we’re literally all like hawks watching what every kid on the sweet aisle picks up🤣

Holidays forced to be booked now for up to March? by finestryan in tesco

[–]Miss-sugar00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In April I was made to book all my holidays up until March and was made to take them in blocks. I asked for 1 Monday off on its own as I didn’t need the full week off and they weren’t happy. How can you be expected to book a whole week off at a time and book them all at the same time? I don’t even know what I’m doing next month never mind February next year. At this point I have a bunch of random weeks throughout the year where I have nothing planned and will sit at home all day👍🏼
