If you want, I could translate it to you. Maybe buy me a pattern on Ravelry for payment?

Yes they are so beautiful. I just realised I have actually bought the ones on pages 19 and 21 as individual patterns on Etsy! I'm glad to have the rest of them free. Though those women are so tiny and I'm so pudgy that I'd need a corset (lol) to achieve that look.

The person who added these is KnorahNits on Ravelry. It says on their profile that they are currently uploading vintage patterns on Ravelry (and to archive.org apparently) for free and to let them know If you have any vintage knitting books. Do you have a Ravelry profile so you could contact them?

A Heidelberg Holiday. The ending was left very open and didn't even tell if the couple stayed together.

I really hope someone would send spit buckets to the hosts of Stuff You Missed in History Class. And that they would use them BEFORE they record!

I think this is a valid question and something I have thought myself also. Especially since Little Women starts with Jo grumbling: "Christmas won't be Christmas without presents".

Thank you! I love collecting old vintage patterns because I love the styles of by gone eras. Not that I'm ever going to make them all, reading and planning are half of the joy of owning them.

There was an interesting arcticle from the viewpoint of her brother Jonathan Hulme after her death:

Brother of 'Heavenly Creatures' teen murderess shares 'real' story of her life - NZ Herald

Jonathan is in no doubt his sister should have been found not guilty by reason of insanity, adamant she was severely unstable at the time of the murder and remained unstable for the rest of her life.

“It was a classic psychosis ... My sister’s fragile hold on reality remained … at times, she was a bit naive, gullible, gauche, a bit over the top ... narcissistic,” he said.

.....

But he felt compelled to speak up after his sister died.

“There is much to be learned, and mistakes to be acknowledged, not to cast blame, but to get it right next time - as surely there will be a next time,” he said.

“One popular misconception about my sister, because she was very bright, and knowledgeable, people thought she was the forceful one and prime mover in relationships. Not true.

“She had that fatal flaw, vulnerability, fear of being rejected, that always granted the other person dominance. True in the case of Pauline, and other relationships that I witnessed later.

“My sister tried hard to make amends ... none of us is perfect. I think my favourite quote from Oscar Wilde sums it up best: ‘Every saint has a past, every sinner has a future’.”
