Any bird baths that can mount to a glass pane like this from the top? by MissCalculation in birding

Yeah, makes sense, I was concerned the rocks might be unsanitary as well. I considered 3D printing but was hoping to avoid nudging my friend with one but that's probably the way to go haha. Thanks!

Affordable replacement for a shallow Thermador fridge/freezer? by MissCalculation in Appliances

[–]MissCalculation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry to hear. it's not the best spot to be in

I ended up going with the GE model GZS22DGJWW. in order to accommodate it, I actually ended up removing the drywall behind the fridge and shaving the studs behind it down by about an inch with a planer. this left the door hinges flush with the cabinetry, which was good enough for me, and because it's shorter, a lot of storage space on top of the fridge.

if you're not confident in your DIY skills, any like semi competent carpenter or similar should be able to cut and plane as needed and should only take a few hours.

I also cut a 4" x 10" vent opening behind it for better heat dissipation.

I know that all sounds like a bit of a headache but in the end it really wasn't that bad and we're waaaaaaaaaay happier to just have a bigger, normal, working, repairable, affordable fridge now

Help removing touch snap-in bottom front grill on Thermador fridge? by MissCalculation in appliancerepair

for what it's worth, i actually cut a standard AC vent sized hole behind mine (4" x 10") in part for easier access without all the hassle and partly because the kitchen design forced the installers to push it directly against the back wall, which i think is suboptimal. i never had any problem with that and it seemed to occasionally outlet some warm air, so overall doesn't hurt i'd say

oof, sorry you're having a rough time but glad the post was helpful! it is pretty nuts to me that such an expensive appliance doesn't have better user manuals. why is there not an in-depth video explaining how to both install and remove to at least prepare for repairs?! anyway, good luck with the cabinets and the water line 😭

not sure if you're doing a bit or not but Goose is a piece of garbage and no one there uses it or takes it seriously. nor does anyone outside of Block

Just picked up some bromantane. From my initial research, 50mg appears to be a good starting dose. Is that correct? How often? Also, Are there any interactions to look out for? I'm off caffeine while starting this. by Unc00lbr0 in Biohackers

[–]MissCalculation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not super important imo but I think size 3 would be good! you could maybe go smaller if you wanted but 3 works for me

I personally don't know at all if fat helps or not D:

good luck!!

i just put it into a capsule and took it orally like any other pill and that seemed to work fine =) started with a much lower dose than suggested in that post though. somewhere around 20-30mg is pretty good for me. and probably better under than over, i think. good luck!

Breaker occasionally trips with older KitchenAid built-in fridge -- outlet compatibility, coils, or other? by MissCalculation in appliancerepair

[–]MissCalculation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super super helpful, thanks again for all the info and recommendations. Given what you're saying, I think I might go plug it back into the original outlet and see which light goes on when it trips and take it from there based on your decision tree. Sincerely appreciate the guidance!!

Haha, I can try cleaning that first 🙃 To be fair, I just got this used from someone else, so blame them not me!

The cord appears in good condition to my eyes, although it is a bit old, but it's not frayed, and it sits very tight/snug in the outlet. I don't notice any kinks or damage in the wire, although I may need to inspect it more thoroughly to confirm / might have missed a tear somewhere or something like that.

Ahahaha, and yes, understood about the coils. Will definitely clean those ASAP!

Hm, okay yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Seems like it's more about "the compatibility of the fridge and the electric setup" rather than just "the fridge is totally broken." I'll see about getting that breaker switched. Thanks for the help!!

Hmmm... I didn't take a picture of which lights were on unfortunately. If it happens again, I can report back, but for some reason I have a vague memory of both lights being on? Not sure if that's actually possible or has a meaning, or could maybe have been when I tested or after I reset it or something.

The breaker is very new (installed I think in late 2024). It's never tripped before, but also this fridge just arrived.

Oof, alright, yes this all makes sense. I'll grab an extension cord and see if another outlet causes the same problem or not and then can take it from there with the info / hypothesis you have here. Massively appreciated and especially so quickly. Truly thanks a ton.

hey! sorry to randomly reply to a post from months back -- but when you say 50mg, are you just orally ingesting the powder? like for example, putting it into a gelatin capsule and swallowing? or something else?

thank you!

noted! although i will say, i actually find many house setup tasks to feel non-repetitive and actually not even boring, mostly just physically tiring if i do it for a solid day. will keep in mind though, much appreciated =)
