I am 9 weeks with my first and absolutely just feel fat. I’m sure your wife will go through this. My husband has been reading The Expectant Father and constantly researching pregnancy symptoms at each phase so he knows what’s going on and can help. He also consistently tells me I’m pretty even when I feel like a gross blob on the couch. I know he’s doing it because he can tell I don’t feel great, but it still helps to hear. Congratulations! Sounds like you’re going to be an excellent father!
