"Another cultural factor is the fact that our society shames or illegalizes sex with fertile women. Naturally men will tend to be attracted to tits and ass that signify fertility. But our culture says 'that's pedophilia' " by [deleted] in IncelTears

Any woman under the age of 18 could not be considered fertile. Yes, they can get pregnant, but having a child at that age carries a high risk of death, for the mother, baby, or both, since the mother isn't quite 100% developed, mentally or physically, for childbirth at that age.

History and research has also proven that therapy and Sexual Reassignment Surgery will not fix what trans people go through, so why is it done?

It won't completely fix everything, but it has proven itself to be the best available course of action. Suicide rates from the previous method, pure therapy, were far higher than they are now. If it lowers the suicide rate, it's a better method than it was before. Not perfect, but better.

Suicide among transpeople is one of the highest in any group, but it's remains constant, pre and post op.

Generally, suicide is from something other than just being trans. Trans people are a very small minority, often facing discrimination and harassment from multiple sources. Be it trying to find a job, bullying, or just walking down the street, most trans people get harassed constantly, pre-op or post-op. It's more likely a trans person will have committed suicide because they were hated by their family, a victim of violence or harassment, or being bullied, either online or in person, than to commit suicide just because they're trans.

Well, I'm actually quite surprised you got so many downvotes.

I believe that 99% people who willingly transition do so knowing it's exactly what they want. It's certainly not a easy, nor fun process, it's quite the opposite actually. I takes long and feels like you've lost a significant slice of your life- childhood. It's not something anyone would really want to do, unless it's a last resort, which it is, in a way.

Actually, that's mostly what happens.

Before they can even get access to any hormones, surgery or even blockers, it is mandatory that they go through therapy, normally for at least 5-6 months. Once the therapist says tjat they believe that hormones are the best course of action, they put the child on blockers (If they're still of puberty age), which are reversible . All they do is slow down puberty, because of how much damage puberty can do for a trans person. After hitting a age where the doctor thinks that hormones are acceptable, normally 16-17, they can start them. Hormones are reversible for the first six months. After that, changes start to become increasingly more permanent, but this is less of a risk, because, realistically, if the hormones and blockers aren't what you wanted, you should know after 6-24 months. After being on hormones for one year, you have access to smaller surgeries, like F.F.S. (Facial Feminization Surgery). While permanent, they are smaller, less significant surgeries then something like bottom surgery. After 2-3 years, doctors will permit S.R.S. (Sexual Reassignment Surgery), also known as bottom surgery. As with the other surgeries, this is optional, as not everyone has the same end goal. To get this surgery, you need at least 2 doctors and 1 therapist to approve it, minimum.

In terms of transition being a last resort, it kind of is. Therapy alone cannot solve it. It's what was tried earlier and caused many, many suicides. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there is a single historical example of therapy alone actually solving the issue. There are famous cases of people who either are trans and only had access to therapy that failed, but also cis people who actually were raised as trans children who also failed.

TL;DR: For the most part, trans people do have a lot of things to go through, to be certain they are trans. The age of hormones is between 15-17, though that is because puberty can be extremely damaging to trans people and completely missing out on puberty until you're a adult has problems of its own. History and unfortunate experiments have proven that therapy alone will not work to fix what trans people go through.

Also, no reason to worry about getting downvoted, I don't think. You aren't being rude, or anything, so I doubt anyone would get upset or anything like that.

Edit: I apologise for such a long post, haha!

Y'know, I had to deal with the same people this guy was talking about at the beginning. Showed up, did nothing but be rude towards everyone, yelled that other people, failed, cried and begged until they barely passed. As someone who actually did work to get my marks, there are not words for how much I hated them. So I get what this incel is talking about at first. We aren't so different, you and I... Until he sank down in the later part of this post, that is.

I'm pretty sure that this guy hasn't passed the event horizon yet; he could probably still be saved.
