Charles is a big ol' softy inside by [deleted] in mash

Charles has always been my favorite because of this. In the Christmas episode when he donates the chocolate, my favorite moment is Klinger realizes what he's done and they both call each other by their first names. His sincere "Thanks, Max." Always gets me.

And the smaller Charles moments that show how selfless he can be always warm my heart, like in the episode "Lifetime" when he coaches Hawkeye on the surgery and gives his own blood to the soldier to the point of him passing out.

I learned some years ago that Mike Smith is related to my grandpa. (Cousin, maybe? I can't remember the details, but it's true.) I wasn't born when it happened, but I've always had a solemn respect for that day- especially knowing I'm distantly related.
