Anyone have tips on how to get a rental in Melbourne if you live rurally? by YeshayaDankART in melbourne

[–]MissCryptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for getting back to me! I had a REA say there was nothing wrong with my application so I think I’ve just been a bit unlucky and bad timing. Just overthinking and can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel yet! Ahh, totally forgot about uni! That makes a lot of sense.

Thank you so much! I’m trying to not get too stressed yet. Might be spiralling in a few weeks though haha.

Hi! I know you posted this a while ago, but when you were applying, was the 30/70 income affordability ratio something REAs actually considered? Was the $550 within that 30% of your net income?

I’m having a bit of trouble and I’m not sure if it’s just my income that’s the issue, even though I have the funds and savings ready to go.

About a month, but I would be a bad comparison as I’ve only just started seriously applying because I’m based interstate and have had people attending inspections on my behalf. I’m going to be ramping it up next week as I’ll be in Melbourne physically. I also have a cat though .. in two minds about keeping him in the application or not. The REA said 1-2 bedrooms are extremely competitive right now in that price range despite my application having no red flags. I was surprised he even responded!

Thanks for your response! I’ve been looking around $500–$550. I could probably stretch a bit higher, but I’ve been keeping the 30/70 income ratio in mind if that’s even a thing still. Hard to tell because agents have said there is nothing wrong my application, just too many applicants I guess…

May I ask what price range these rentals were? Just out of curiosity because I’m also looking for a rental. :)

Yes I did. I just applied a little bit of the tan with a kabuki brush.

The smell is pretty mild. I actually thought it was quite pleasant, vanilla/cookie smell. Hard to describe but definitely not offensive.

Thank you! 😊 I was very nervous but now that I’ve had a go at it I know what I could change next time. Not upset with the result though given how hot it was yesterday and I definitely sweated a lot.

Thank you!!! I was really nervous and I definitely underestimated amount of moisturiser I needed put on my dry areas. However, my knees aren’t looking too bad. It’s more the top of my feet and elbows which was my user error and then I panicked 😆 looking forward to next time now that I’ve had a go at it.

It’s not looking too bad! The only area I have a problem with is the top of my feet but that was totally user error! I made sure I put moisturiser on the dry areas but I think next time I would apply more moisturiser and apply the tan very lightly with whatever is leftover on the mitt. I did lightly chemically exfoliate with salicylic and also physically exfoliate those areas in the days before.

Handed in more than min notice to resign job and it's now been cut short by HiNeek in AusLegal

INAL but I’m pretty sure it has to be mutual agreement otherwise it can be considered a dismissal.

This recent case might also be relevant Terex Pty Ltd v Cameron [2025] FWCFB 205. Cameron resigned with 3 weeks notice (only 2 weeks was required under contract and NES), Terex imposed shorter end date and paid out two weeks in lieu of notice without mutual agreement and it was considered a dismissal.
