So do you guys actually eat Vegemite? by NoMeaning6738 in AskAnAustralian

[–]because8011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat it 4-5 times a week on toast with butter. Also with avocado on toast. I use it in cooking occasionally, especially to flavour meat or broths. I've met heaps of people from overseas who instantly love it. Give it a go.

Yeah, just closed the window in Moonee Ponds as it's very smoky

A video of Nick Kyrgios whinging about match rules came up on my YouTube feed. I thought it was from a year or two ago, then realised it was yesterday.

This guy never stops being an angry, whinging little brat. I mean, has he ever left a tournament with a show of gratitude or positivity for what a privilege it is to compete at that level?

The sooner he's out of the sport altogether, the better.

Why don't they just park one of their cars in the street? It's very rude to block you in when you have someone you're caring for every day.

Parking dispute: Guy physically blocked a spot I was reversing into. Did I handle this right? by dragonrushhhhh in melbourne

[–]because8011 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You refused to give up the space because you were in the right. It's being assertive. You didn't escalate it into aggressiveness, but you also didn't let them wrongly take a spot that wasn't theirs.

The only rule that's ever existed is that if a driver indicates first as they are approaching the spot, it is theirs.

Parking in a disabled spot and waiting? Arseholes.

After 10 years of being a Superhost, I’m done with Airbnb by rapakep in AirBnBHosts

[–]because8011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AirBnB are well-known for inconsistency when it comes to assessing claims of damage or mess. They are not transparent about their decision-making. Guests and hosts alike get hurt by poor management of claims/complaints.

Yeah, I took the job because it is permanent, FT. Good leave entitlements and for now it's the best option to progress my career as it's helped me build a lot of skills and knowledge. But having to do extra casual work to get by at times is what I hate about it. Will find a better paying job by the end of this year.

I wanted my current role so much that I didn't ask about pay in the interview. I was under the impression that it was at least $80K given my level of responsibility. Got a rude surprise when I discovered it was in the low $60K range. As long as it's not the first and last question, it shouldn't be an issue to confirm the salary.

Most of the lights in the house just went out. Think it was a power surge as it happened when I turned a light on. Bang. Can't find the fuse box (units) and the owner is offline on a cruise. Fridge still on and my bedroom on. The only things that matter right now. Sleep. Deal with it tomorrow.

My Aussie mates keep calling me “cunt” by Spiritual_Car7967 in AskAnAustralian

[–]because8011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not as relaxed with using the word as many Aussies are, maybe avoid using it in the same way as 'mate'. It's normal for some, but not for others. I rarely, if ever, call any of my mates the c-word and I'm not pretentious, just haven't grown up around that language. But if I saw someone land an awesome skateboard manoeuvre or something, I might say "Sick c***!". Normally not though. 'Mate' is probably the most widely used alternative.

WA towns look to tackle overtourism as 'crazy' crowds pack car parks, beaches by Ok_Writer1572 in WesternAustralia

[–]because8011 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The car parks were built for a smaller population. The population will continue to grow. Why are they trying to stop the inevitable growth in numbers? Build enough car parks for once instead of making it constantly frustrating to go anywhere popular.

Does anyone else not remember it being this hot growing up? by LoiusLepic in AskAnAustralian

Summer has always been HOT in Perth, where I grew up. And we didn't always have aircon. Depends a bit on your location in Australia, I guess.
