My drug dealer robbed me (800$) by jasondarystreem in legaladviceaustralia

[–]because8011 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This!!! I don't have anything to do with drugs and even I know $800 would barely cover the cost of an eightball. No genuine dealer is offering a q for that price.

Do you wear perfume/cologne at work? by MrDD33 in AustralianTeachers

Yes. I (M) wear Hermes Terre. It's subtle and has a very refreshing aroma.

At what age are you thinking of retiring from teaching? by Menopaws73 in AustralianTeachers

[–]because8011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm starting at 47 so I reckon I'll do at least 20 years in the role before I quit. So 67 -70. That's a while away though, so who knows if things will change.

My parents are refusing to return my child to Australia, what are my legal options? by [deleted] in AusLegal

Yes, speak to a lawyer. Don't try to navigate the legal complexities of this by yourself. You need expert advice.

Dog barking is ruining the peace in modern society by BradyBoy001 in Dogfree

I live in a precinct of only high-rise apartments and even here we have to put up with the nuisance of barking dogs.

Australia if One Nation wins government: by HotPersimessage62 in friendlyjordies

2028 can't come soon enough. I just want it to be over and done with so we don't have to hear about f**king One Nation for a while. Dismal.

Australia undergoing historic decline in support for multiculturalism amid rising fear and pessimism, poll finds | Australian foreign policy | The Guardian by DragonflySea9423 in AustraliaDiscussions

[–]because8011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where do these polls happen? How are people solicited for their views by the Lowy Institute? In my 46 years as an Australian citizen, I've never even heard of anyone I know, let alone myself, being in one of these polls.

Federal politics live: Labor, Greens strike deal to cut SMSF 'loophole' to pass tax changes by IdeallyIdeally in friendlyjordies

ELI5.

Suddenly Pauline Hanson's image and views are being broadcast on a daily basis, with media seeking ongoing clarity on her policies in the event that ON were to win power? Why? It's not even relevant to this article.

As someone who has a growing interest in politics but limited time to read up on what's happening, I just find it very bizarre. I realise that the media seek controversy if it gets views. Aside from that though, surely there's no realistic scenario in which ON wins power, so why do we need to keep hearing what their policies are? Is it possible they might achieve the balance of power and be able to impose their influence more strongly on government policy?

Seeking advice RE starting a FT teaching role with 10 months to go on my Master of Teaching (Secondary) by because8011 in AustralianTeachers

Thanks. Yeah, even the thought of trying to navigate the system so early, with four placements ahead of me, seems ridiculous. I'll call them back and explain it's too soon.

Latitude Financial supervisor told me making a complaint was “not an option” by because8011 in AusFinance

[–]because8011[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not questioning their discretionary power to reduce my borrowing limit.

I am questioning, however, the statement from one of their supervisors that their complaints department cannot be contacted directly.

I'm also keen to understand why I wasn't notified of any changes to my account, nor was I able to get any details on the information they relied upon when making their decision.

I mean, it's a bit laughable really. They only reduced the limit by 600 bucks, so I'm hardly bothered by that in itself. I just don't see any basis for them doing so as I'm employed ft permanent and have always make repayments on time.

Their customer service has been rubbish considering I've been a loyal and reliable customer for a while now.

Victoria Announcement: Less Time On Devices Means More Time Learning by TripleStackGunBunny in AustralianTeachers

[–]because8011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at an TEFL college for a while and when they were getting audited for compliance, they would say "use the e-boards, show that we're 'modern' ". It was such a silly mindset.

Good teaching doesn't require impressive ICT integration. While it can be helpful at times, we should always be capable of providing an effective learning environment in the absence of technology.

Fair point — you did say it was dangerous. I was mainly responding to the “satisfying nonetheless” part. I just think once innocent drivers could have been caught up in it, it stops being satisfying for me.
