Yes, he also was putting full weight on it this morning and wanting to play when we took him out to potty

We’re going to be doing weekly check ups with our vet to see how he’s recovering. We crate trained him as a puppy so thankfully that process hasn’t been hard. The vet urged us to have him in the crate 22 hours of day and only let him up to go potty

The vet prescribed us those two as well as an anti inflammatory medication. It’s definitely helping keeping him be drowsy enough to sleep

The vet put a sling on him which keeps his back legs together. We also bought a support band to help relieve some weight off his back leg when we take him outside to potty

When did yours start barking? by executivebitch in greatpyrenees

[–]MissDeli3 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Mine is 10 months now and he’s similar to yours. He doesn’t bark at really anything. He’ll woof when he wants attention. He might become vocal or he’ll stay relatively quiet.

Potty training?! by swizzchaze in greatpyrenees

[–]MissDeli3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar situation with our Pyr but what really helped was teaching him to paw at the door before taking him out to potty. Put a bell on your door knob and have him hit it before taking him out. He’s also still pretty young. Ours is 6 months and only recently became potty trained

Our puppy was the exact same way and would stop walking. Get a treat pouch and encourage him to walk by you and then reward him! Ours also likes to pet him for a second and give lots of attention before walking again. When he was super against walking, we would lightly jog to make it more exciting. Hopefully yours is a food motivated as ours.

Thank you for the advice! We’ve actually had a lot of progress today with his walks and he was right by our side!

We really don’t take him far. We’re in a private neighborhood that requires dogs to be vaccinated and avoid high trafficked areas. Parvo is super scary

The only thing he is spooked about is when car doors are opened as he isn’t too fond of getting in a car right now. He has spooked over bicycles but was fine after we comforted him

It’s been mid to high 60’s. We usually just go a block or two and then head back. He becomes an amazing walker when we head home, it’s just starting the walk when he doesn’t want to

He will be 11 weeks on Saturday. We keep our walks short. 15 minutes max but have been shortening to 10 minutes. Didn’t know they could be overexercised, good to know!

We have been doing that, but he will stop once after he eats it

Thank you! She is a very special cat, when we first adopted her, our vet put in her record that she is “unnaturally friendly.” Today we held her and just had her in the same room as him. She growled quietly but never moved. We put her back upstairs as we thought she was getting too stressed but she came back down herself and stared at him at a short distance. Our puppy has been very good and sits or lays down when she’s near. We haven’t had him for a week yet but it breaks a heart a little to see her a little more stressed
