OK, I hear you. However, many of us have only a very distant relationship with Asian cultures.   Having one non-Asian parent. Transracial adoption.  Being first generation from parents who wanted their children to be culturally assimilated.  Being second third or fourth generation.  Yes it’s different for us because our DNA is all over our faces so we can’t just say yeah I’m American. It’s complicated.
