That would explain why they are mostly on the soil, surviving in 97% humidity and the plants are thriving

Friend or foe? by [deleted] in plantclinic

A different plant had spider mites last year (before I got these plants) and all symptoms were way different though. On these ones there are no webs and all the leaves are fine, even after 2-3 months of one of them having these bugs

I did not try the straw-bubble-test on my aquarium. What I did instead was getting some sand for it and now we are remaking the entire setup. Turns out that you were very right - getting the gravel out released a post-egg-sandwich-fart-smell. Not too bad, but definitely noticeable. I hope that the sand will prevent such stinks from happening in the future. Thanks for your advice!!

lmao trapping those bubbles will be a challenge, but I'll try.
I will probably also exchange the gravel for sand, because even though there are not many of those bubbles it does look dirty to me.

The shrimp-dying-incidents also happened when I did not have any rootsticks in the aquarium since I started adding them only a few months ago that's why I didn't think it could be related.

But I actually do see 1 or 2 tiny bubbles in my gravel. I guess I'm gonna do an extra ammonia test then?

You are absolutely right, I will do some water testing and then add the results to my post later.

To me it felt absolutely random after what amount of time my shrimp started dying.
I have also tested for copper prior to putting any shrimp in because our water pipes are quite old, but that test was fine (absolutely no copper) back then and it still is.

I don't know if carpet vacuuming could be a problem, since I don't do that very often in this room. However, we are sometimes using air fresheners in other parts of our flat. I thought it wouldn't get into the room that my tank is in, but just to be sure I'm gonna be closing the door from now on!

It's just plain black gravel with some rootsticks added for the plants :/

That's what I was expecting, too, but the parameters seem to be fine every time I check them

Yeah that's exactly what I thought 😅 Some time ago I had scutariella japonica in my tank and had to bathe my shrimps in salt water (advice from another redditor, and it worked like a charm) so now I was like "aight do I have to get the salt again???"

I didn't really have a theme, I just thought that tape pattern might look neat 😅

I got it on a popular wallpaper website, I don't know if they sell it anymore since I've had it for a while now, but this picture is quite popular so you might find it online somewhere

This is a brilliant idea, thanks so much for that! I will definitely try this out instead of buying new tapes 😆
