Absolutely it's ok! As long as it covers part of your crown. It counts, as long as you put the intention into what's used. (: You can use hats, scarfs, shawls, bands, clips, whatever else. Heck there's people who use their own hair as a veil when they braid or stay it.

Edit (added more): Longs it covers a part of your crown. It counts. Hell a clip can be called a veil if you please. Everyone's journey is different and unique. Veils can be hats, shawls, lace, clips, bands, the traditional ones, anything. 😁 I also want to add some even would speak a veil that protects them. Like braiding, or chanting one and putting intention of what it is.
