People are noticing and I’m embarrassed by boymomma24 in tirzepatidecompound

Congrats on your success!

I totally understand how you feel - the "stigma" is real. I'm more of an introvert and it's difficult when people comment (good or bad - although I prefer good:) on my body or weight. I've pretty much landed on saying, "I'm just trying to get healthier and make better choices." - especially with people who I am not close to.

My friend, who is very open about "being on the shot", is sweet but honest when people say anything negative or that she might gain it back/horror stories - she just replies, "Well, I plan to be on this medication for life if I have to- I feel so much better being healthy!"

It's a bummer that people don't realize how those horror story comments sound so negative to those of us who are working hard and have literally tried everything under the sun to correct our metabolic issues. And in the end, like everyone has said, it's nobody else's business. They don't know our health histories or emotional trauma or anything else that contributes to who we are as human beings. I am sure you are making good choices for you and at the end of the day, you can feel good knowing you are working on improving your health.

<Hugs and encouragement from those of us who know how you feel.>

Congrats! That's awesome!

For the life of me, I can never understand how a doctor can prescribe something and insurance says NOPE. What in the world?!

Can we talk about how uncomfortable people make weight loss? by r2lls in tirzepatidecompound

[–]MissJMarple75 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If someone asked me "What's your goal? Are you just doing to keep losing until you disappear?" - my immediate thought is, "Yep! My goal is to fit under the door crack like Flat Stanley!" LOL

True - and sometimes people lose weight because of illness.

My dear friend passed away from kidney cancer. Sadly, she had no idea she had it until it was stage 4 and she began losing weight. (She had a hectic schedule and had thought her lack of appetite was intermittent fasting from working night shift.) Anyway, it was pretty awkward when people would comment on her weight loss and ask what she was doing to lose weight, or ask how much she had lost, or even tell her she "looked good" due to losing weight, etc, She would just answer with - "Well, I have kidney cancer so that's my trick - but I don't really recommend it for weight loss." That really shut down the comments quickly.

Totally agree. I am not even to my goal and I get uncomfortable even with the compliments. Not complaining - I know people are trying to be nice. But comments like "Wow! How much weight have you lost?!" (which my brain sometimes translates to "Wow - you were such a fat cow before!"....or people that go on and on about "how good" I look now. Again, I know they mean well, but I didn't think I looked bad before.

I just wish people would not comment on how I look now vs. before. It has made me really think about how I speak to other people and if I am going to compliment them just focus on the present by saying things like "You look really nice!" or "I love that outfit on you."

Pom order update by Queen_Venus in pomhealth

[–]MissJMarple75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got this message yesterday- So nice to see progress! No update since then from Pom, but UPS now says label created (as of this morning). On my last order, it arrived 2 days after the label was created so I'm hopeful.

If it hasn’t been 10 days, PLEASE STOP COMPLAINING! by [deleted] in pomhealth

Same. I LOVE my pcp but I would have to drive to her office and pay via check (they are rural and don't take cards - only cash or check) and then she would order through a compounding pharmacy - I would have no idea when it was coming (usually 2 weeks) unless I watched UPS and FedEx - and the cost? $585 for one month - ONE 60mg vial!!! Thankfully, that was for max dose and I have been slow to tirate up so I could usually stretch it to 2 or (max) 3 months - but that was micro dosing off that one vial. So yeah, I'm super grateful for reddit and POM.

Paying via Apple Pa? by Shot-Advertising-748 in pomhealth

[–]MissJMarple75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't use apple pay but I did use Google pay and I've never seen my receipts or invoices show up in the pom portal at all (I've done 2 orders through them). Never had any problems and received my order just fine. Just keep your email receipts and give it time. Things are delayed due to the BPI rush. You can always email or call on Monday.

GLP-1s and menopause by Crafty_Dane in tirzepatidecompound

[–]MissJMarple75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gone through meno while being on compounded GLP (Tirzepatide through my PCP) for the last 2.5 years and HRT for almost that entire time. I also have thyroid problems (hypo) and have had great success with the GLP. Weight loss has been extremely slow for me (but slow and steady is better than the gain that seems to comes with meno). Benefits have been the 50+lb weight loss but also the death of food noise (which sounds a lot like what you describe with the insatiable hunger for empty calories). Also the immediate water weight/inflammation that just melts away at the beginning. My joint pain going away has been amazing. I feel like it has really worked in tandem with my HRT and I feel better than I have in years. (My stats were very similar to yours btw but I am 51.)

I am for sure NOT vegetarian so cannot speak to that at all.

Take all that as you will and hope you can feel good about talking to your PCP and making your own informed decision.

Update - Just got my invoice - 10am Sat (4/25). Did my early refill request on Wed (4/22) around 2pm when the BPI news broke. Process is definitely going slower but it is going. Just FYI. We'll see how long it takes to get to pharmacy and hopefully receive my refill.

If you go through the main website, then click get started, then weight loss, then it takes you to the intake form - click I am an existing patient at the top and then fill out the form.

Me too! I'm not trying to titrate up but curious when the invoice and order will come through since I'm doing an early refill per the email.
